Cycled the Dempster Highway in 2019. Flew from New Zealand to Inuvik via Vancouver and Yellowknife. Hitchhiked up to Tuk for a couple nights than cycled to Dawson City and on south from there to Whitehorse. Amazing Journey and an incredible part of the world! The Stewart Cassiar Highway was loaded with Bears!!
Your film brought back plenty of memories :)

Did the Dempster last year. What a fantastic ride... Unfortunately Grandma's kitchen was closed when we were up there.

Good overview.
I rode my motorcycle. I had time and budget for only one. I chose the Dempster, Because I'm Canadian, I believe I got lucky the more i've heard about them. I made the right choice without know why. The Dalton is better known. Scenery similar ect.
The difference, Is hard to say because I haven't done the Dalton yet. I can tell you the most memorable part of my trip on the Dempster. Is how friendly and welcoming the people were. Tuktoyaktuk is a special place. So is Inuvik and Fort McPherson. Being able to get to the Arctic Ocean is a big plus.
It's definitely a bucket list trip. I did a circuit of Alaska as well. Also amazing, I missed more than I saw. Must go back.

I did the Dempster in July 2022. Really enjoyed the adventure. I travelled 17000 klm round trip as I am from New Brunswick. I found the highway relaxing to drive just have to slow down for approaching traffic. Lots of camp sites. I stayed at organized sites and found them very clean and well managed. As I am 71 years old that will be my last long adventure, but I really would like to travel to the 48 lower states. I also did the Top of The World Highway to Chicken.

Thank you for this. I’m from Texas and have never been to Alaska. I don’t fly and at 72 pretty sure I’ll never see it. We’ve stopped traveling for several reasons, but I would have loved to have done both. Really enjoyed the video and info.

I got as far as about 50 north of Fairbanks in winter. Didn't want to drag my fifth wheel much further. The Dalton looks much more interesting next time I'm up that way. I'll probably be in a smaller rig.

I am not going to answer the question, “which one would I choose”, I am going to do both. I also want to visit Yellowknife in the NWT on Hudson Bay. I will leave no stone unturned in Alaska. I want to see the Bella Coola Valley on the west cost of BC and do the Trans-Canadian Hwy to include Labrador and Newfoundland. That is only the beginning for me starting in 6 years.

I think I'd choose the Dempster because I don't want to end up at an oil field. That said there is a certain attraction to crossing the Brooks Range. If I ever get to go I'll probably have to leave my wife behind as she has expressed no interest in seeing the Arctic Ocean, me the exact opposite. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

Done both and am partial to the Dempster.

I prefer the gravel over the paved sections. It’s easier to flatten out the frost heaves. Pavement just becomes horrible after one year.
Circle Hot Springs is no longer open. It’s in sad shape now.
I hauled fuel up the Dalton, so I would choose the Dempster for the adventure.
