A life expectancy of 35 doesn't mean adults typically died at that age. It just means there were a lot of young people, children and babies who died

I went to the University of Leicester, they're very proud of finding him. The car park he was found in was actually the car park to Leicester's cathedral, in the foundations of a lost chapel. They love him there since he wanted to make Leicester the new capital due to its more central location than London. There's even a couple of pubs named after him like The Last Plantagenet.

I live in Leicester and there's a museum entirely dedicated to him. It actually became a big thing for the city after his remains were discovered.

I believe that Richard was really twisted by the Tudors. Whenever he was found, many of the things Shakespeare had claimed was untrue and the rumours that he killed The Princes in the tower were proposed during the reign of Henry VII. And also, he was never an usurper. He was called to take the throne because Edward was illegitimate.

The bones of Richard III showed that his spine was pretty twisted. He wouldn't have looked like Quasimoto but he wasn't a perfect specimen.

i genuinely do beileve he was a victim of some bad propaganda. i'm not saying he was a saint, but i do think that most of the stuff/lore surrounding him was invented to mock him and spoil his legacy. it was all against him, and the majority took advantage of that. plus, history is written by the victor and we all know he was not the winner in history.

Remember Henry Tudor had his own reasons why he wanted the princes dead. Mainly because his claim to the throne was shaky at best.

MAY have had scoliosis?? MAY HAVE. His spine was seriously misshapen. He DEFINITELY had scoliosis.

To those who still claim that he is indeed a "hunchback", no he's not. He had a condition called Scoliosis, a very severe one that would make his shoulders look uneven, but will not form a visible hump, unlike in Kyphosis. Scoliosis is a sideways curve of the spine, often taking the shape of the letter ‘S’ or ‘C’, while Kyphosis is more of a forward rounding of the back, which leads to a hunchback or slouching posture. Both are musculoskeletal disorders, but they're not the same.

His scoliosis was not minor. It was quite severe, actually, and he would have been in a lot of pain.

I've always felt kinda bad for Richard and I feel like the Tudors did their best to portray him in a bad light, which they've done very well!
He didn't really have any reason to kill the 'Princes in the Tower' as they were considered illegitimate and therefore opposed no threat to his claim to the throne.

The comments below are pretty good about calling out the errors in this but I will add one more. The Princes were at the Tower of London because it was the Royal Palace where kings stayed before their coronation. That Edward V (the eldest of the two) was never crowned, doesn't negate that. Richard III was Not accused of killing his wife. Shakespeare made that up, as he made up so much else.

It shouldn't be surprising that Thomas Stanley turned against Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth as he was married to Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry Tudor. After the battle he (Stanley) was the one that placed the crown on Henry Tudor's head effectively ending the rule of the Plantagenets.

He might have been a good King but, as we all know, the winner writes the history books...

Richard had to have been in so much pain. I have scoliosis and its painful, but my curvature is not nearly as bad as his

Richard III:
🎶I was sure that you’d love me
To that hope, I did cling
‘Cause I’m… Richard the Third
And… Everybody loves a king!
Thought I did a good job
Why do you disagree?
There’s a lot of people
Spreading nasty rumors about me
Every word is a lie
So I’m singing this song
‘Cause the history books
Have been telling it wrong!
I never had a limp
Always walked my full height
Never had a hump
And my arm was all right
Never took the crown
With the illegal power
Never killed my nephews
The princes in the tower
Tudor propaganda
It’s all absurd
Time to tell the truth
About King Richard the Third
My brother Edward, died
His kids too young to rule
So… I took the throne
Why not? I’m nobody’s fool!
Thomas Moore wrote a history
Said I’d murdered Edward’s boys
Shakespeare said their death
Was an evil ploy
But I say those two
Are historical vandals!
They’ve ruined my image!
I mean, what a scandal!
Never bumped off
Those harmless young heirs
Never buried them
Under the Tower of London stairs
Never poisoned my wife
Bumped off her daddy
This is me, sweet Richard
Do I look like a baddy?
Never was two-faced
Sure you’ll agree
I was misunderstood
King Richard three
Can you imagine it?
I’m the last Plantagenet
Beaten by Henry
In the Wars of the Roses
The Tudor dynasty
Didn’t care that much for me
Now I’m painted as a baddy
That’s why one supposes…
Never forget
When you hear of my crimes
Never drowned my brother
In a massive vat of wine
Never said "A horse!
My kingdom for a horse!"
Who made that up?
Why, William Shakespeare, of course!
Now my tale is told
You won’t hear a bad word
About a special ruler
King Richard the Third🎶
