The problem with the gospel of mary is that it is a form of gnosticism. The point of the gospels is to tell the same story from different perspectives. Not to be contrary or compare one disciple to another. But to point to jesus. To verify eachother. Because there are different authors, there will be minor differences, but throughout all the books of the bible, it cross references and proves itself over 364, 000 times. The gospel of mary is very focused on just her and her relationship with jesus and blasphemous messages about angels and mysticism. Mary had previously been possessed. As someone who's only been oppressed, i dont want to let go of his gsrment for fear of repeating those events. I doubt the gospel of mary was truly written by her, purely based on what it contained and the discomfitting message included. She says jesus stated that sin doesnt exist and to look to nature when you are discontent. The whole bible is spent-including Jesus's own words-telling us to look to HIM for joy and peace. Its not about her being a woman. The gospel of mary is heresy. If you believe it was just because of the church's shallow reasons that they left it out, pray for discernment. Read it yourself and feel the conviction one way or another.
