The msrp of this tractor is roughly equivalent to the top-of-the-line, commercial-grade ZT models with 72" deck from JD, Hustler, Scag, Grasshopper and Bobcat, which are far more productive but won't go everywhere this mower will go, and they will only mow.

I work for the feds at a national fish hatchery with only gasoline fuel on station and lots of acreage to mow. We are currently equipped with three 72" front mowers that are gas powered: 2 Toro, 2WD GMs that have been fabulous with many years of service  but slide around on our steepest slopes and very old and one JD Terrain Cut 4WD that is better on slopes but not quite as quick trimming as the GMs as it's higher profile, but all three are fast cutting the large fields. We also have a 2004 56" Bobcat ZT that's nearly useless for us as it won't go on even mild slopes and won't track straight at top speed vent after having it serviced. And we have a 42" JD tractor for smaller areas, but the latter is probably smaller than anything we need.

It's time to replace GMs but nowadays there are no gas-powered front mowers to trade them for. We're gov't, so we can't buy used. When approved monies, thinking about replacing a GM with a bad ass zero turn like a Turf Tiger 2, Hustler Super Z HD or equivalent, and the Bobcat with one of these 4WD, 4WS tractors with a 60" deck with optional 50 lb wheel weights or equivalent. This way, we could stay with gas power and stay highly productive with 72", 12 mph ZT mowers for our trimming and large fields, but also have a compact tractor on hand that should handle our slopes and still have a large enough deck to cover some ground. I looked at true slope mowers, and the best choice I saw for us with gas power was the Ventrac 4500, which was the only one that would fit our budget and in our storage areas, but it would have limited use to mostly just our slopes with all its length, and it be about $10K more than the JD X739.

Just how tall was your grass...and was it grass, or weeds?

Not bad for a 14 thousand dollar lawn tractor...
