Terrinoth is in peril. The demon-tainted Uthuk Y'llan barbarians stalk the realm and the undead servants of Waiqar the Undying venture beyond their borders for the first time in memory. The leaders of Terrinoth are divided and fractious, unable to unite against these common threats. And in the northern barony of Forthyn, the stage is set for the next great confrontation between Terrinoth and the forces of darkness...
For years, your journeys have taken you across the fantasy realm of Terrinoth, venturing into dark forests, shadowy cities, ancient crypts, and misty swamps — but your true legend is about to begin.
Forge your own legend together with friends as you adventure across the vibrant fantasy realm of Terrinoth in the co-operative dungeon-crawling board game Descent: Legends of the Dark. Powered by an integrated free companion app, Descent: Legends of the Dark puts you in the role of a budding hero with their own playstyle and abilities. Together with your unlikely companions, you'll begin an unexpected adventure — an adventure told across the sixteen quests of the "Blood and Flame" campaign. Throughout your campaign, you'll face undead lurking in the mists, demonic barbarians stalking the wilds, and even more terrifying threats. With 46 pieces of 3D terrain and forty hero and monster miniatures to draw you into the game, your greatest adventure is yet before you! Your objectives will change from quest to quest as you follow the overarching story of the campaign.

The app here is an essential part of the experience, much as in other FFG titles. A great feature is the Line of Sight Calculator. No more do you need a measuring tape or hand laser to determine LoS on the game map. Just click/tap two squares on the virtual map, and you get an instant yes or no. Also, as you read through the rules in the app, key topics are highlighted as links. Just click/tap those words and you'll get an extended definition of how they work in the game.

Bottom of box for assembled terrain storage. Rules in app.

If you look in the little beige box where it gives the type of item (weapon, consumable, armor etc) on the upgraded side there are two little arrows next to the type.

This is a wonderful game and I love how the app handles so much of the math and bookkeeping. My friend and I are about two-thirds of the way through it. We've been playing it controlling two heroes each. Scenarios run 3-4 hours. I'm eager for the second act.

The dead air is for the assambeld stuff, and the sleeves are needed for the game (this is not a sample!)

I have this game and have yet to bring it to the table. I think I will bring it out this weekend.

Got this game to use the terrain and minis for DND. Now that I look at it, seems like it's fun to play on it's own too!

Each character has two sides, if you notice the ability is different (in the black box) everything else is the same. it's the primary way to get rid of fatigue

I generally agree, the minis feel "brittle" though I haven't experienced any issues with breaks, but it's also exclusively adults handling them.

I can't figure out how they made these minis so high quality. There's one cultist type figure, that has these weird eye "stalks", that I can't figure out from a molding standpoint, how they even injected it like that. They'd have had to removed the molds from around those eye "stalks". Which is incredibly small, less than a MM or 2.

I love this game, it was my return to board games, right when it came out. It was the first miniatures I painted. It is kind of repetitive, I don't know how much replay there is in the game, but it's worth one go through. I really enjoyed building the terrain and painting the mini's which took it's own amount of time. The writing for the game the story felt a bit bland. The game play is repetitive, but if you crank the difficulty to actually make it difficult for you it feels better. If you're on easy mode and not having to think about your fatigue and when to flip cards over. you can easily get bored. but if you increase the difficulty to actually make the game challenging I think it's great.. Still could use a bit better writing. I can't wait for Part 2. we're supposed to get it this year.

There is an indicator for the upgraded item, it's 2x^ on the upgraded side.

I have almost a full set of 2nd edition Descent including expansions and miniature add-ons. I always thought their miniatures were decent not just in their aesthetic but also in the variety of miniatures you got per set. However, Decent 3rd edition is not something I have any interest in. I don't want to play a game with an app. The cost to get into the game was significantly higher than 2nd edition. I'm curious to hear your thoughts on Decent 3rd. Maybe I am overlooking a great game due to my own reservations.

I think this game is actually very enjoyably. I've been playing solo with 2 heros and it's really hard. I heard i should try 3 heros

I own a lot of Descent 2 and Imperial Assault. These are great but the need to a player to be the GM was exhausting and burned out. When Descent: LOTD came out I had concerns and didn't back it. Since then, my friend and our kids have been having THE BEST TIME going through this and are "close"(?) to completing it. Just in time for Act 2. So excited! So wish they had a Star Wars version like this!!! Please and thank you ( looking at you, FFG).

Fkin love this game. Just seems a waste that it is app based but doesn’t have a scenario creator or any content added so I haven’t played since I finished the campaign

Why this game hasn't gotten more love is beyond me.

FFG have always decent minis at the time they are released, though they have a much longer history than most companies so their early minis are not great quality compared to modern standards.
