I’m so glad I went to someone who knows how to properly do piercings.

Fun fact Maryland doesn’t recquire a body mod license which can be problematic if you want a piercing or tattoo!

I had one. I washed my hair everyday and believe me my ears too.
I had a problem with the stick of the earring, it was too short so the skin healed over it. I had to open the piercing about four times in the same week. I stoped because the earring fell off and my skin was already too sore. It didn’t grow a lot but I still felt it. I got ambulatory surgery years later because when I wanted to scratch or clean behind my ear I felt like it was going to explote (it wasn’t but I thought it would). I didn’t need any of the things he said. They closed the thing with stitches and I didn’t develop another keloid.

My case was a “special one”. There are some people who get them really easily, such as the vaccine they used to give baby’s 20 years ago (the one that left a scar) some developed keloids on them. Tattoos and piercings too.

Your risks of getting these is higher on places where it's more likely to get dirt/oil/unclean things. If you wash your hair once a week and have oily hair buildup between, you severely heighten your chances for keloids. Same for getting into pools, hot tubs, touching with dirty hands, or not cleaning the area enough. If you have oily skin and a piercing in that area, you may find you need to clean your skin more frequently to maintain your oil while you are healing or you'll have the same issues even in your face.

I got those from surgery scars, they just kept growing higher. I even developed one from what the doctor presumed was some internal tear in my upper abdomen and it was actually spreading and caused pinching pains. Steroid injections flattened all of the surgery ones completely but the other still has raised spots but not as high as they were.

This is probably wrong but I’ve had 2 keloids with 2 cartilage piercings on the same ear (conch and the upper ear) before the keloid got big I used hydrogen peroxide with a q tip and pressed pretty hard till I heard the sizzle of the peroxide) it worked and both became flat after 3 or 4 months. I’ve had my piercings since 2010 and they are still doing good

I had one after getting a cartilage piercing. It sucked. Popped and made a crater. Went back to the tattoo and piercing shop I got it done at, and they were super helpful and taught me proper care for it, and gave me a salt water cleaner for it. It healed up, and I never had to remove the piercing. Been 3 years, and it is fully healed.

Everybody seems to think that only pierced areas are gonna give them keloids. But in fact, that's not the only way you can get one. I got 12 keloids on both shoulders, and you can say it's not from piercing, just bad acne scars.
And you can also get keloids on one part of your body and not the others. For example, I got a scar on my back after an operation and it never turned into a keloids, nor when I get scars on my arms for example, but every tiny scratch I get on my shoulders give me another one. Hope it helps.

It should also be noted that piercing keloids are quite rare, especially on lighter skinned people. Usually piercings bumps are hypertrophic scars that can be treated using tea tree oil.

Cauliflower ear. Anyone who has wrestled or boxed knows to peirce the swelling areas around cartilage to prevent it

I got a keloid after a piercing in that same place but when I took the piercing out the keloid actually slowly went away and now it's gone and I was able to put the piercing back and I've never had a problem with it again.

I have one of those on my knee! Had ridiculously expensive cream for a year and it cleared up, you can still see it but only if I point it out

I had a keloid after a bad piercing. I ripped my ear lobe and has to sew it up and that's when the keloid started. I had to wear a pressure clip for a whole year that was moulded to my ear shape. Now my ear looks great and I'm happy!

Or La Mer!!! Seriously had a keloid for over 10 years… we tried steroid, plastic surgery and laser treatment and pressure treatment… nothing worked they just came back angrier, painful and itchy… gave up… but then my mom told me to try some of her La Mer and within a month it was completely gone!

My 5 ear piercings (one is top cartilage) has never given me any issues but my nose stud piercing had nothing but issues, infection & after I removed it my Dr said my body reacted to it by overdoing scar tissue. A year & half later my nose is still tender where my simple stud had been.

If you cauterize the blood vessels and everything really well it could help from them returning and please correct me if I’m wrong….

I had surgery on both of my earlobes because of this (a second surgery on my left one too) and now recently my ears started to hurt more often again (the first operation was around 2 years ago and the second one around a year ago) und now my left ear is swollen again (possibly infected?), red and it's kind of hot. My ears started to hurt because of the cold not so long ago so I started wearing hats that cover my ears but I think it might also be because of wearing masks more frequently again since the new school year has started a few months ago. My mum said that she's trying to get in touch with a doctor but it's difficult because of Christmas and because we're going away to family next week so there's not much we can do right now...

Yeah I've dealt with them using pressure and frequent sanitizing with alcohol
