What concerns me is that doctors seem to take the easiest (sometimes safest) course of treatment, but when push comes to shove, suddenly there's another way. What if you're that person with no one in your corner fighting for you, then what?

If this was a case of lung cancer in the lower lobe, they wouldn't take out the whole long. They would just take out the lower lobe. I don't understand why the first thing they is take out the whole lung, when only the part that is bleeding can be removed, thereby preserving the rest of the lung.
