A24 = original stories. Not remakes, sequels or recycled stories. They are bold. Even on their worst day I much rather watch one of their authentic new stories fail than to rehear/watch an altered recycled original. They are a fresh breath of air to cinema.

I absolutely love when a movie trailer grabs my attention but doesn't tell me a single thing about the plot of the movie. 10/10

This is a perfect example of how you do a trailer. You’re not getting a synopsis or plot of the the entire movie, but it perfectly gives you a setting and a vibe. Such a good trailer!

Watched this at the movies last night. Epic. Hectic.
My closest friend had life long mental health issues, and had the same underlying soft loving nature as Beau in this movie.
I asked him once what it felt like to endure a psychotic episode, and he said that you absolutely can not distinguish the difference between a thought and something happening in real life.
A couple of years ago, we went surfing together, I dropped him home afterwards and made plans to surf again the next day. But he woke up, took his board to the beach and walked up to the edge of a 100ft cliff and jumped off, beautiful sunny morning at 9am.
The weight of what he carried around (and hid beautifully from most of the world) in the background of his mind was a war that was eventually to much to bare.
There was so many moments in this film that reminded me of moments in time that I’d seen him travel through.
Amazing movie that blurred the lines between the reality he encompassed and the torture of his anxieties.

There is NOTHING I enjoy more on this planet than creative and weird movies. This is beautiful.

I love how these trailers barely tell anything about what happens, so nothing is spoiled, but also show everything at once about the movie

Ari Aster and Joaquin Phoenix sounded like a match made in heaven when Beau Is Afraid was first announced, now this looks like it will be one of the most bizarre, introspective, and comedically terrifying films in recent years and I couldn't be happier to welcome it with open arms.

I saw Beau is afraid yesterday, honestly I don't regret the 3 hours I spent watching this, one thing is certain whether like it or not, you will never forget this movie.

Finally an Aster movie where his twisted sense of humor is a top priority. Love it

I love when a good director gets popular enough that they're allowed to be weird.

A24 is easily in the top 3 production companies right now. Even their work that isn't as popularly recognized is all of a really high standard and most have their own cult followings. I always get a feeling like I'm in a fever dream watching A24 movies and it's rare that production companies can achieve that effect where you are enveloped in the story time after time 🙏

You know a movie will be good when the preview does not spoil and leaves you wanting to discover what Beau is afraid of. Bravo

This could be a new example of “psychological horror “ we need more filmmakers like Ari, we need people that push the limits of a preexisting art to something new ❤

I came into the movie theater blind. I did not know what to expect with Ari Aster's new movie, but it's that level of uncertainty that drew me in even more. I left the theater in awe and somewhat gut-punched. I had to see this movie again! Already can't wait to get it to own on 4K blu ray!!!

Thanks Ari Aster for keeping the art of cinema alive and thanks Joaquin Phoenix for sculpting these characters with your unique talent. All the waiting has been worth it, this movie looks mind blowing.

Joaquin Phoenix is one of those rare actors who whenever I see that he's involved in a project I have to watch it. Such a tremendously gifted actor.

There are a lot of controversial opinions about this movie. It’s more metaphorical, it represents how to live with anxiety, basically a nightmare of a person with severe anxiety in absurd, black comedic portrayal.

It’s also about relationships in your life and their importance ( parents, partners etc) and how parents can control you even as an adult, how they planted deep fears into us only to be hindered from reaching our full potential and joy. What it’s like not finding your place in society and feeling like an outcast, not fitting anywhere, but even if you have a chance to live a happy life and find your people, your inner fears, your traumas will come get you and draw you back to the source of every bad thing in your life, mind until you can’t escape and there’s no where to go.

It’s about traumas, fears, anxiety and how they can decrease someone’s quality of life, determine their present and future and how you can be the prisoner of your own mind due to them.

Really grateful for all movies released by A24 and the support they give to innovative, talented directors with original ideas. It is refreshing to see that in the industry.

This is what I want to see above all else when it comes to movies. Something from a filmmaker who has a vision and wants to slap me across the face with it. Repeatedly.
