I hate the fact that getting a car at MSRP is now considered a good deal.

Just bought a new car less than msrp. I refused all bs fees and add ons and wanted an interest rate under 3%. I walked out twice and the finance manager chased me out into the parking lot. Got the deal I wanted. Carmax offered me a few thousand more than I have into it. Walking is the best negotiationing tactic.

As I normally do after three years, I change vehicle. I still like the idea of taking my car in for service, looking around at what they have in the show room and making a choice right then and there, and then spending the day negotiating what is the best deal for me, and understanding what is the best deal for them.
The idea of buying a car this year is absolutely not interesting. When I purchased my previous car I liked it and I still like it, have always maintained it, followed the manufacturers recommendations for maintenance. I keep telling myself that if it’s good for someone else it’s still good for me.
I may be sounding like old fashion about not choosing a car online, ordering and everything but what gets me in the first place, is to see it in person, in a color that strikes me and the sort of equipment that attracts me. I think the idea of ordering online and taking delivery either at home or at a dealership once the sale is completed attracts more people that are not so much car guys as they see it as much more utilitarian in nature. I would think that the numbers would show that in a majority if you ask people what their interests in cars are, and how they would proceed for their next vehicle.
It’s easier for me to make a decision there on the spot. There is really no logic to exchange a car that is totally satisfactory to get a new one other than you being a car guy like I am but believe me there’s no way someone would get me into over paying above MSRP and expecting to have a good resale value in a few years and accumulating negative equity does not sound like a good deal to me. Greed is driving this thing, greed will come back into most likely a manufacturer being eager to sell more cars than another one, and then leading the way into manufacturing more cars and then lowering car prices like it was done before. The world doesn’t change behavior that quickly. This is my own honest opinion.
Always like to watch your videos. Thanks for the service.

Big cheers to both you guys for your efferts in trying to help us nigochiate the circus of buying a car! Your advice is appreciated and used. However i have experienced a merrygoround of B.S. in the sales room. The list is almost endless on there tacticts to confuse, frustrate, and con people! If you ask in a polite way that you want to eliminate a bogus charge, they go from being nice to going through a book of lies to tell the customer! My advice is, when checking the car out, bring your mechanic! When purchacing the car, bring along your Lawer!

It seems in most cases, now is not the time to buy a car if it can be avoided. It's a shame the way some dealerships are gouging the public.

Even if you get the car at MSRP with reasonable Doc Fee, the dealer can get at a significant amount in the APR. For example - The buy rate might be 1% from the bank but the dealer will show to you 4% APR.

Thank you for posting videos like this. I had a sales manager refuse to do business with me because I was asking the right questions. He provided me with a internal repair order that had N/C for no charge as the cost. However he did not expected me to call his own service shop and get the retail cost on five of the seven items listed. After getting those items the only two items left were a pre-delivery inspection and a package deal that included key replacement and paint warranty. Even after getting the retail cost there was about $1, 100 left over. Unfortunately the out the door price was only $2, 000 away from meeting our budget and if they would have allowed me to get the internal cost on a few of the items we did not want; they would have had a sale.

I received a quote for a sportage that was sold at MSRP but had 2.2k in dealer installed items PLUS $800 doc fees... the funny part was the dealer installed items were quoted but the car was not even on the lot yet lol ...

We shopped a few dealers for an Acura MDX and each one here in Austin TX had $0 Dealer Markup but had 1600 - 1800 in added "Options". Both vehicles were not on the lot and were en route to the dealership. NONE had the RO work done and both dealers would not remove the fees. It appears that dealers that don't want the stigma of marking up the cars are trying to do the same thing but claim that you are getting something for it. To me, this is just as bad. Both dealers would not remove the fees or even negotiate the fees down. Needless to say, we did not buy one.

My experience with dealers in FL (Costco) and AL, it is take it or leave it with all the markups. Even at MSRP, there is about $4000 in options, dock fees, thief registration, etc. where are the dealers that will negotiate?

Remember Saturn stated MSRP only...then two cool cars came along like the SKY CONVERTIBLE suddenly charging above MSRP. they had a quick death following this behavior

Thanks for posting....question a $25K (sticker) vehicle last year was going $18K (sticker) willing to buy but bank will only finance $20K
Can the deal be done at that price and no more not even a trade in?

Is there a way to find out what the standard doc fees are in your city, I live in Pittsburgh, looking at at a new Mazda CX-5 for my sister

Ordered a new 2022 Sub Forester. MSRP plus $ 150.00 doc fee plus tax and licence. Nothing extra in financing it is ok deal. Paying cash.

3:00 pay the internal cost for accessories added, not the inflated accessories price. Ask to see internal RO. (requisition order?)
