This argument with weapon can be said for almost every single dps unit.
4* weapons are just not that great in this game.

That being said, i would said yinlin is definitely a gainer here. Her weapon is so versatile it's worth pulling, unlike changli's weapon.

1) Prydwen's calculations assume you have Cosmic Ripples equiped, not Stringmaster. And Yinlin still has the highest DPS in the game. (Partially because of her short field-time, of course)

2) The gap between giving Yinlin her signature weapon or the standard 5* is about the same as Jinhsi or Jiyan. Skipping her weapon doesn't impact Yinlin's damage by more than any other limited character. (Well, except Changli.) What makes Stringmaster so good is that, while other limited weapons' skills are tailor-made for their signature characters, Stringmater's is universally useful.

3) The majority of the 4* DPS weapons in WuWa kinda suck, in general... This problem is not Exclusive to Yinlin. That said, if you are willing to buy the BP, Augment is the single best 4* DPS weapon in the game. Especially if you are willing to go all the way to r5, at which point it's damage becomes comparable to Cosmic Ripples.

4) I think this video is downplaying the value of Yinlin's outro a bit.



TLDR: Stringmaster is the most valuable limited weapon in the game because of it's flexibility, not because Yinlin particularly depends on it.

Also... It's kind of ironic that a video called "Why Yinlin is OVERRATED!" implies that she is so overtuned that Kuro will be forced to nerf a whole element to account for Yinlin's existence.

What we learned? Pull for the character and their weapon, unless it's Changli, you can skip her weapon.

Tbf 15% diff from next BiS is an argument you can make for a lot of other character sig, iirc Jinhsi sig is 13% better than Jiyan sig and 18% better than standard wep

I pulled Stringmaster for Encore but I had some leftover pulls and managed to get her too. Glad that decision is not aging like milk.

But even so I'm not sure where to put her on my teams tbh. I have 3 teams now and one is Jinshi c0s1 paired with yanwu taoqi team mostly used for clearing middle tower.

I use her in tandem with Calcharo and Verina. My only gripe was that I wasn't able to get her weapon, so I only have 1 copy of an ATK substat rectifier (4*). Basically, I had to sacrifice my Verina by equipping her with an HP weapon. For context, her healing scales with ATK. 😅

My hot take as a Yinlin main is that she kinda needs a rework. Her optimized playstyle is for off-field against groups of enemies, but by the time she has enabled her off-field damage, the Punishment Mark, most of the enemies are already dead so it's only really viable on bosses at which point her off-field damage is not really very high since it only hits the one target.

Basically, damage based on marking enemies makes it REQUIRE enemies to stay alive which is generally bad for damage, lol. It would be better if it affected an area around the active character for the duration marking and attacking anyone in range until the skill was finished.

In the end most of her effective off-field damage is on bosses and Jiyan's outro skill off-field damage is competitive with her damage at that point.

That's why it's hard to take all these youtubers seriously. New character released -- everyone: OMG SO OP MUST PULL OMG. Some time passes -- same people: OMG SHE/HE SO BAD TRASH OVERRATED.

I think this applies to almost all the limited 5stars, I think this is a strategy to spend indeed, especially since Kuro is enticing players on a guaranteed 5-weapon banner.

I don't know I tried her once tagged the enemies they died when she was off-field then I realized she does nothing at all when that happens and skipped her. If she can't continue to do something after they die there's no reason to get her for my account. Strangely it was a really easy decision and it surprised me.

I have YinLin and changli on my second account and I’m glad I have changli she does a lot of damage and I have jinshi on my main account she does a lot of damage 100k is no joke

Yao damage was not heavily nerfed, it is still the highest instant of liberation multiplier in the game, yinlin outro is what makes her valuable, 20 and 25% amplification is a huge multiplier, her off field damage is a bonus for an electro main dps, making your electro main dps do 35% more damage is massive, Yao without yinlin is extremely weaker than him with yinlin on his team, people using her with jinshi are wasting a slot, because jinshi does a lot of damage herself with or without her. I think you are jumping the gun, Yao damage is still 2.5 times Calcharo damage and yinlin will always have a place in an electro team or a quick swap team that works with quick swap.

so i would like to share my point of view im f2p playing 2 accounts i finished all the content on both of them, i rolled for yinlin and her weapon on one acc that i basicly roll on everything on, and the 2nd acc i only roll for dupes for the dps that im useing, so what i have found that geting dupes for the dps seems to be way stronger for the amount of dps u get than rolling for sup dps and there weapon, since the numbers u get in this game from dupes is very crazy like jinhsi at c6 u get extra 110% dps i dont think a sup dps can add this much dmg by herself, specialy if u have something like s6 mortifi or s6 sanhua that give atk buffs, the game is so f2p friendly on that part since u dont need type of element for reaction or u need a breaker and a support, u basicly can run w/e with moonlit and the healing set even if they are not a healer u can run the blue weapon that gives u healing and ur good

You have to pull her weapon first. That's what I did. I got it early and then pulled her. Otherwise, I never would have pulled her. Since weapons are guaranteed, pull them first. I still don't have a good echo set for her. I can't stand farming echos.

A bit hyperbolic. Stringmaster is a good weapon but the whole electro DPS archetype isn't going to get gutted over a limited weapon, that a good amount of people skipped. The standard 5 star weapons should be what the game is balanced around because they are always available. Cosmic ripple isn't that much worse on yinlin and Augment with refines competes with it. Yinlin has plenty of options for viable weapons. She'll be relevant for a good while.
