Oregon Gov. Kate Brown explains new coronavirus stay-at-home order

In a call with reporters on Monday, March 24, 2020, Oregon Gov. Kate Brown outlined her order to close more businesses and ban all social or recreational gatherings in which people can’t remain at least six feet apart. The measure is an effort to stop the spread of the new coronavirus.

Our Portland hospitals are empty. Where are the covid 19 patients? Where are they? WTH is really going on here? Businesses have closed. People ruined financially. Enough is enough.

OK, Governor, what are the HOT SPOTS? The places MOST LIKELY to find disease and corona virus?? I suggest: (1) homeless tents on the streets, (2) recycling centers where you bring cans back (frequented by homeless) (3) rescue missions, (4) those guys (and a few women) standing on corrners with signs begging for money, and after that, (5) super markets (because everybody needs to go there) (6) the poor slob pumping gas at your local gas station. I am not hostile to any of these people - they're just trying to survive after all, but I think they are hot spots.

We went to a nearby Albertson's market this evening, to buy essential food. There were three of us, each of us wearing masks. There were too many people in the store, too close together, and I didn't see anybody else with masks. We stayed back, but this is NOT GOOD!!!!

Can we get more tests? I live in a county with very few beds in the hospital. I have had needed to ride a helicopter to an ICU in another county during a normal time. And they need us to make homemade masks. Also there are more people with COVID -19 than website reports. It looks like things are OKAY now but what is Oregon's hospital's going to look like in a month. Is there working to increase bed capacity now before more cases come in? We love you Gov. Brown but we want to feel like you are with us and this talk was so short. It could get just as bad here as in other areas. And please get the visitors off the coastlines!

Way to step up Kate. Someone has to do it as there is a failure of leadership from the very top. Although inevitable due to human nature, at least for now Oregon is holding its own especially well considering we are bordered by 2 largely populated, contaminated states not doing nearly as well.
