U.S. Senate Reopens in Capitol Largely Shut by Coronavirus

The United States Senate has reopened in a Capitol largely shuttered by the coronavirus, but prospects for quick action on a new aid package are uncertain.

The 100 senators are convening for the first time since March.

The Senate reopened despite the area's continued status as a virus hot spot and with the region still under stay-at-home orders.

The House of Representatives is staying away on doctor's orders due to health risks.

Lawmakers face a deepening national debate over how best to confront the deadly pandemic and its economic devastation.

Senate Republicans are reluctant to spend more money on virus relief. They hope the gradual reopening of the economy will reduce the need for more aid.

But House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is expected to soon unveil a new relief package.

let's be honest. this whole "flatten the curve" thing was to prepare us for the upcoming slaughter ahead. we all know we were not prepared for round one, but we are prepping for round two. the economy has to open up or else there will be no jobs to go back to (so no way to pay your rent, no way to feed your family, etc etc). people have to go back to work knowing they will eventually contract the virus (thought you may be asymptomatic) when it does open up, you will undoubtedly get a single person to travel to NYC with the virus. then that person infects one more person, then exponential growth. a good case study would be the meat processing facilities that mimic condensed populations. densely crowded buildings and within weeks over 50% of the workforce has tested positive (though many asymptomatic).


this shut down was to buy us time to have PPE sourced and distributed as well as have a vaccine for the world since that was not the case in February. i fully believe the government has downplayed numbers to keep us calm. i mean imagine grocery stores and pharmacies if the government first stated 500, 000 people will end up testing positive in a few months time. everything would be ransacked worse than it was.


you don't have to trust me, but it took a few rats on a ship to start the Black Plague, a single water well to start a cholera outbreak, and global explorers meeting new people to kill off populations
