What is a Gerund vs Present Participle | Basic English Grammar Rules | ESL | SAT | TOEFL
Показать описание
All gerunds end in -ING, but not all words that end in -ING are gerunds! A gerund is a noun you make from a verb by adding -ING. But how do you tell a gerund from a Present Participle? You form a present participle from a verb by adding the ending -ING, just like how you make a gerund. But rather than acting as a noun, a present participle usually acts like a verb tense.
Watch for lots of examples to make these parts of speech clear and understandable! You’ll be able to say what is a gerund, what is a present participle, and create your own with ease.
You have great ideas. But no one will know about them if you can't communicate effectively! Our series of Basic English Grammar Rules will help you brush up your language skills. People will pay attention to you ideas - not your grammar mistakes. Feel more confident about the SAT and the ACT. Great for homeschooling, English as a Second Language (ESL) and studying for the TOEFL, too!
