Ughh.. The guy demonstrated full self driving cars to every analyst in the room and this is the reaction? This truly is a petty age full of small minded people...

Of course their chip is better than NVDA'a chip. Tesla's chip is an ASIC chip designed specifically for self driving and was designed by the most reputable designer in the world who came from Apple. NVDA's chips are GPUs designed for video games. Tired of ppl in finance giving opinions they know nothing about. Too funny

Context is everything here. Musk began by saying that 1 million cars will have the FSD hardware installed - that's what he meant when he said that there would be 1 million robotaxis on the road. He did not mean there would necessarily be an operating fleet of 1 million robotaxis. He also acknowledged that all this is pending regulatory approval. This is the modern media in action: They make a statement - omitting all context, then go about debating / tearing down the speaker by wilfully misunderstanding what they said.

Lyft & Uber are dead to me. They have no way of competing in the long run

Cowen reaction is BS. Elon gave ride-share pricing as well as stating Tesla would be liable re insurance if an accident occurred with a computer nav ride. WTH is with these guys? And how can this be called reporting?

Petty arguments! The question these guys should be asking is if Uber and Lyft are worth the billions in valuation given the robo taxi coming in a few years time. As Elon says he might be late but he has always delivered. Maybe not 2020 but 2021 looks like a year some companies are going to look like 🐎

Why the hell would you claim geofencing would be used in these robotaxis when he responded to the question about that saying any vehicle using geofencing are not real self-driving ones?

FSD is a long way off from being viable. It cannot yet handle a simple intersection and you can just forget about it coping with a roundabout. As it is at present it is being grossly oversold. But in spite of all of that robo taxis will be in play by 2021? Oh please...

I have a question: how to make sure the passengers don't steal the car. Cuz there's no driver to take care of it.

Honestly I think Elon is off by a few years. Majority of people still prefer human drivers over AI because the trust in self driving cars just isn't there yet. Even if the tech is there, its going to take a while for people to adopt the tech. 2. Most people will not like the idea of their 30-100k car picking up random people. If I'm driving Uber, I can choose who to pick up, I can kick a bum out of my car, I can end a ride early etc. Are people really going to risk dirty ass bums throwing up in their backseat or damaging their car somehow? People risk it now, but being present makes a huge difference. You can control the crazies. I was able to stop some girl from barfing in my car by pulling over. Can self driving cars do that? I once was able to avoid some guy throwing up in my car by giving him a barf bag. I once had to kick some dude out because he was kicking the back of my seats and wouldn't stop. Then there's the issue of theft. Are you really going to trust YOUR OWN CAR won't get stolen by some random dude? At least Waymo and the Uber cars are ugly and replaceable. No one is going to steal that. But a fucking Tesla???? Shhheeeit,

Lyft & Uber are dead, they can't compete with Tesla, if Tesla launch ROBO-Taxis even if takes 3 3yrs....

He didn’t “ promise “ anything. The media interprets goals as promises. He literally said he doesnt always get it the time line right but he gets it done.

Yes finally there coming out.. people that thumbs down are probably Uber’s and taxis, or they haven’t been in a self driving vehicle

Elon Musk Don't Have Any Room To Talk About Insanity. When The Devil Told Him His Car Could Fly. He Didn't Mean Around The Sun. He Didn't Even Look To See If It Had Wings.

All long investors know Elon delivers not sooner but later, but still the best products far better than anyone. The important thing is if Tesla Robo-taxi real timeline will have a competitive advantage. I am sure it will because that have been the case before. I give him up to 3 years to deliver and still will be a total success. But I would bet it will be at least feature complete this year. And just this achievement under level 2 autonomy will be the best seller for all Tesla's. Just wait and see.

Can he not patent all these ideas and implement them gradually either within tesla brand and/or jv with other car/aerospace/homebuilder corporations rather than trial and error with public money under one umbrella and playing with public money whilst not making any money
