Tesoro is no longer really in business except in the most limited sense.
From someone who's actually prospected with metal detectors.
VLF only
#1 Gold Monster 1000. It's king in the gold fields and can find very tiny gold with the small coil.
#2 Gold Bug II It may be old, but it's still at the top or very close to for sensitivity on small gold.
#3 Gold Bug Pro Is the best bang for your buck
#4 only ranking lower for cost XP ORX/DEUS running the HF elliptical coil.
#5 Minelab Equinox 800 With the 6" coil and adjusting some settings it's a very capable gold detector. It's just harder to use because of learning the settings to adjust for best performance.

The AT Gold is far surpassed in terms of performance. It will detect gold, but it will miss smaller gold the others will detect due to its larger coil size. With a NEL Snake or Sharp it improves, but still lags behind due to lower frequencies.

I have a Gold bug pro and have attached a 15 inch Fisher coil that is for the F-5 detector. It works fine even though the gold bug pro is running at 19 khz. F-5 coil I was told is for 13 khz.
It IS heavy. The coil was on sale, lots less than the lighter 15" coils by a different name. I think it came out in 2011? It has been a long day, just guessing now. Bought it over a year ago. Health issues and snow have prevented me from trying it out on the claims. It did detect a flat quarter buried 13" deep in packed down dirt. Maybe in late February.

Good morning, if possible, I would like to know if the equinox 800 in the gold digging function can catch small gold nuggets in the same way as the gold monster ... if it is equal to or better than the gold monster in this function because it is multifrequency .... what if the gold monster works well in other functions besides fetching only gold ... i mean fetching artifacts, , jewelry, , lost coins inside the woods, , lakes .... if you can give me an opinion. .. help me .... thanks I still could not find any video of gm 1000 being used this way .... thanks.

Im a firm believer that it not what you used but how well knowledge you are at using it and know what your detector is capable of doing ? I know a lot of people with highly price toys and they don't have a clues of what is going on or how to use it ! I own a cheap used Tesoro Lobo Super Traq I purchase on Ebay for 238 bucks with shipping and I am a pro at it ! One of the best cheap all purpose metal detector on the market and well satisfied !
