AT&T TV Review - Wait...ANOTHER AT&T Streaming Service??

ANOTHER AT&T VIDEO SERVICE?? It's really getting hard to keep track these days! This time, they're back with AT&T TV, a cable/satellite TV replacement that's delivered over an internet connect. So should a cord cutter be giving AT&T TV a hard look?

----------

Read our full AT&T TV Now review:

----------

Well… Just because you deliver something over the internet, doesn’t make it a cord cutting offering. But then, this doesn’t seem to really be aimed at cord cutters. It’s more about retaining customers, and maybe grabbing a few traditionalists as well. AT&T seems to think there’s an untapped, or under-served, segment of the market that wants the traditional feeling of cable or satellite, but also wants to watch Netflix without changing the TV input. And maybe they’re right! But … maybe not. AT&T lost over 4 MILLION video subscribers last year, and most other traditional providers aren’t faring much better. So as customers seem to be running away from that old way of getting their TV, what does AT&T do for their shiny new streaming service? A set top box, several tiers to choose from, a 2-year contract, and a 2nd-year price hike? Wait, where have I heard this one before?

Yep, it looks, feels, smells, and tastes just like a satellite service, so I'm curious to see how this goes and whether it finds its audience. Sound off in the comments and let me know what you think!

***Update: In the video I mentioned that Hulu and other apps were not available on the AT&T TV platform. AT&T has informed us that the Hulu app is now available.***

They lost me at the two year contract part, not too mention the prices after the promo price is up

So theyre basically selling their live streaming service with 2 year contracts like cable? Man gtfoh nobody wants to be tied down to that anymore, nobody wants price hikes after being a loyal customer. That's the worst business model ever! If u want to keep customers you don't raise the prices on them after 2 years! Then after that u have to pay for the box, and all these other fees, in my opinion, if you're a customer for over 2 or 3 years you should get a discount, it only makes sense to reward loyalty, not pissing off your customer by raising prices after being loyal for 2 years, that's why one set price streaming services are more popular, less of a headache to manage, internet should be the same too, one set price, forever, nobody wants to play these stupid games with the internet companies, just give it to us straight up without all this extra crap or don't waste our time, unfortunately I'm stuck with at&t internet with the 93 dollar price after promotion because Comcast sneaky ass had me owing 600 bucks, before I cancelled them, now I can't go back to them without paying them that, so I'm stuck, no other providers in my area, I can't wait for SpaceX and Amazon satellite internet to come out, finally a sense of freedom to come but the longer they take the more money at&t is getting out of me, please hurry

We canceled AT&T's U-Verse as a cord cutting measure in March 2017 due to rising costs. It's obvious AT&T doesn't fully grasp what's happening in today's live tv market with their 2 year contract and the requirement of a proprietary Android box to stream their content.

What ATT TV is just stupid. 2 year contract, and jumps up in price after first year. Surprise fees. Reasons why DirecTV/Uverse are un-popular. They're making the same mistakes.

Directv hes been on a steady decline since att bought them. Im not saying Directv was perfect but Directv lost more subs since att purchased them. Att has lost more directv subscribers then they ever had combined with all other att tv platforms. They dont know how to run a tv Business (bad customer service and rising cost).

At&T will always put you back on a promo after the first year as long as you have two services with them, Cell or Internet. Just call them before the 1 year promo is up.

If Att was smart they would go to no contract and prices remaining the same. Then they may be competitive

So I can stay with Youtube TV which has no contract or rental fees and has almost all the channels I want or I can switch to At&t and have to sign a contract pay more in the 1st year and a LOT more in year two? Not a very hard decision

AT&T basically blew over 100 billion dollars on nothing.

I work for AT&T and have for many years and unfortunately this review is spot on correct. It really only sales well to those that are over 35 and that like, but are mad at DTV, Dish or Cable or those that want to feel and attempt to look modern, but stay with old school tv watching tradition and habits. Not appealing to those under 35 or that identify as cord cutters. The younger people are not interested at all, especially after hearing the price!! The 2nd year price hike on 2 year contract is a killer!!

I hate their way of pricing and the 2yr commitment. Sounds just like all their crap.

I just switch from YouTube TV so I could watch Regional Sport, this was our best option.

Sounds like it would be good for folks like my parents who like traditional cable but I also want to use some streaming apps and are not very good at changing inputs.

I’m very happy with Philo TV. I think AT&T is just repackaging direct tv.

What gets me is not only the price, we're paying to watch commercials!

Overpriced and does not have a clear understanding of what the whole reason for Cord Cutting. It will seriously flop.

So happy I cut the cord in 2010 and never went back. It was the housing crisis and I was worried on more important things for survival. Then I never saw the need to pick it up again. Purchased the first generation Roku in 2012 and been streaming whatever I want on Roku ever since.
