I heard it about everyday before i retired. I was in aviation for over 20 years and finally retired . We had in our fleet all King Air aircraft almost but now have the newest one . It's something awesome.. We had 2 C-90s but one hit a deer inboard of left engine and ripped the belly open. It sat in maintenance for over a year and the other was sold . But this sound was a real motivator . Guys and gals alike would pop the vent to listen also. I bet some kid somewhere is eating this up and wants to be a pilot. Great post . Need more like this one.

My father was an engineer and executive in the ‘70’s and ‘80’s. The company had a pair of Beechcraft King Airs. I loved to go see him off Those turboprops have a sweet sound to my sentimental ears.

Spooling down is cool.
There's more of it to hear from a conventional turbine or high-pass because there is nothing sitting in front of the vanes, but yeah.
