Plants vs Zombies 3: A Message to PopCap

Hi guys,

Welcome to PLANTS VS ZOMBIES 3!!

Today we are going to be discussion my thoughts and feelings about Plants vs Zombies 3! After the release of the third PvZ3 Beta in nearly a year, it seems like PopCap still has a long way to go. We the community would love nothing more than to see Plants vs. Zombies 3 succeed, but in its current state, is that even possible? Let’s find out shall we!

The fact that so many people have been voicing the exact same concerns time and time again really says it all. It's insane.

the ability to choose your seeds and replay levels is a key element of pvz and without that it's just mindless planting. i hope they'll soon listen and start changing things

I wouldn’t mind a remaster of the first game I just want this to succeed and help breath new life into this franchise

You're so right about this!

I feel like the developers got that "Go back to the roots" feedback after the 1st demo and then made it "Don't innovate anything, but still change the game for change's sake to justify it being it's own game". There is so much fundamentally wrong with how the franchise is handled these days and I could write a whole essay about it. Also, will you talk about the upcoming PvZ Road Trip demo that's apperently set to be released in a few days?

The worst part is the zombies don’t even look like they are eating the plants, the just swing their hands back and forth.

What if
You wanted to use squash every level
But PopCap said
"Gardenscapes."

At this point in time, I would just be happy if Popcap would just continue making new worlds for Plants vs Zombies 2. There’s no real sense of having Popcap introduce one or two new plants and maybe one new zombie (upcoming Nutcracker zombie) but yet not create a new world to go with those plants. My fear is that after so many betas and Popcap not really listening to the fans, that Plants vs Zombies 3 will be scrapped (hopefully not).

I just want pick your plants, it's what makes a PvZ Game makes a PvZ Game.

PvZ 1, 2, and 3 (2019 version) has pick your plants

PvZ GW1 and 2 have variants

PvZ Heroes has different cards

And even PvZ BfN has upgrades, even though there are some upgrades that don't work for the "pick your playstyle" gameplay *cough* hardened *cough*

Amongst all of the blatant negatives of this situation, at least it has really displayed how strong and caring of a community PvZ holds. Hopefully our voices will be heard indeed

I want: Pick your plants, at least 5 minute levels consistently (with highs of 15) and more of the unique stuff they showed glimpses of here. They overshadowed the awesome stuff with lame filler tutorials and 30 second levels... they're also practically tutorials. The longer the levels are, the more the strategy element can shine through especially given choose your seeds (player consequence is lacking here). A lives and powerup system is irritating and is emblematic of a larger issue of the series.

Good video Red... I hope they listen.

I won’t be surprised if they started releasing those Homescapes/Angry Birds, ads for PvZ games now.

PVZ will FOREVER be my childhood! Even in adulthood I really hope PopCap listens to their community! I fear it's too late, but I have hope!

I will say that i've seen these kinds of videos plenty of times however I like that you in particular aren't being as harsh with your criticisms which honestly has a higher chance of people watching it and understanding your point so i'm glad that you made this video.

I really appreciate that this video is critique without calling anyone an incompetent idiot. It's somewhat professional.

I have an idea for some sort of pvz, a game that may work UNLIKE pvz3, it is where the seed packets are dropped into the continuum after Penny gets completely destroyed from a mysterious YIELD sign, and you only return to Neighborville after 2 years of time warp, you get help from a robotic peashooter who translates the other plants, and you need to clear up a mess of zombies across Neighborville and even the moon, the game would contain plants from every pvz game in existince

This might be only me, but I feel like all the PvZ 3 betas have all been a little too cutesy for being a part of the main series of games, and not just a spinoff. What I mean by this is that, when compared to the previous tower defense games, one of the main reasons people loved the series was that they had a small dark and gloomy tone, but not too dark. Of course, I agree with basically everything you discussed in this video, PvZ 3 looking like a huge tutorial with Gardenscapes shoved in between levels being a problem, but something that isn't hitting me right is just the way the game is being displayed to the original players. PvZ has always had the charm to be a tad gloomy but is so bright and vibrant at the same time! I might be the only one feeling this way, I might not be, either way I personally think that the game is looking a slight bit cutesier than it should for being a Plants vs Zombies game.
