I had a large expensive kill bag, tried all kinds of chemicals- nothing worked. Your method of banging it up worked after just a few tries. Thank you!!!

Hi Royal, I have tried using many of suggestions listed here on your video and many others, including an mild acid spray or vinegar and no luck! I had to cut my zipper compartment on my fishing bag to get inside and I was not happy because it was only 1 year old. I have the same chair and thought, I dont want to break the zipper tab or ruin the me try my trusty chemical that works for almost guess what it is? You have to try it, so find another frozen zipper and grab yourself some DENATURED ALCOHOL, the kind they sell for cooking or cleaning. Apply a little to the zipper where it is frozen and watch it melt away! After trying all the other lubricant style and working the zipper for days, this freed it within seconds! TRY IT and let me know if it works for you!

This solution was perfect! Before I found your video, I tried a bar of soap and then shampoo. For context I had 3 frozen zippers on a backpack that went through hurricane Helene. I read through the comments and saw one about using denatured alcohol. I grabbed it from my medicine cabinet and liberally applied to each stuck zipper. Then using needle nose pliers and a hammer, I got to work. It probably took me 3 times of using the hammer, testing it, then hammering again before it worked. Maybe for a stronger person it wouldn’t have been as many attempts but I didn’t mind because the end result was the same. All three now work and I’m thrilled! Thank you so much for the tips, and thank you to all the comments because they helped too! ❤

Thanks! It worked! Could not find my 3-1 oil so I used avocado oil spray! Also I used a wire cutter to hold the mechanism while tapping the top with pliers . I was careful not to cut the fabric. I need a real tool kit! 😅

Worked for me! Used Free All and held the slider with a pair of long nose pliers and hit the pliers with a hammer.

Snowmobile backrest zipper by the way, probably hasn't moved in 25 years 😂

I applied a little bit of coconut oil on the zips and hit them really hard from all angles with my screwdriver and it worked. Camera bag with non usage of zips for like 5 years. But the bag was always inside the wardrobe.

I guess people are facing different levels of difficulties with this solution due to the level of rusting and the humidity of the environment in which they were kept.

Thanks to your advice - the zip on my travelling rucksack is free again. I used WD-40, an Allen key and a pair of mole grips to gently move it back and forth and then it released. Thank you

I tried what you suggested using WD40, and bashed the zip. It worked! Thank you very much!❤😂😂😂

Cool I'll try this. Before seeing this video, I tried the WD4 but I didn't try hitting the zipper. I'll give it a go.

Thanks! Used WD40 and a vicegrip but what work was tapping the grips with a rubber mallet.

OMG you've got my Dad's Pliers - mine are in the same condition. I remember them from fishing and they were around the shop late 1950's. May I ask, how did you acquire yours? Do you know any other history?

I also suggest inserting a wedge (cone shaped would be optimal) between the hole ( if there is any, it might be closed to the end), and the zipper. carefully inserting the wedge, in a spiral manner, can help to push the zipper without damaging it. thanks Royal.
