crazy to think Robert Eggers only has three films but his sheer talent and creativity are already above most experienced directors at their prime.

The Lighthouse has gotta be one of the most insane, surreal and wild films I have ever seen, The Witch is one of the most disturbing and unnerving films I have seen and The Northman is one of the most epic films I have seen.

it’s a fight to the death: a viking, a building, and a young girl

Eggers talking about how awful the editing process for the northman was and how he felt the movie had to compromise what he wanted a decent amount and then turning in one of the most stylistically interesting blockbusters in a very long time honestly just shows how rich his movies are

Fun fact: In The Lighthouse (2019) Robert Pattinson had an unusual approach to psych himself up before emotionally extreme scenes. Director Robert Eggers states, "Sometimes he'd beat himself in the face so bad. Or when it was raining through the cottage roof, Rob was drinking the rainwater in-between takes. He also spun around in circles a lot, that was helpful for him. Or he'd stick his fingers down his throat to make himself gag, stuff like that."

The lighthouse had one of the most immersive atmospheres that I’ve seen in a movie and it’s one of my favourite movies so I’ll have to go with that one for the best

As someone whos icelandic and read alot of the handrit/sagas in school i will say that the northman is the most accurate viking movie i have ever seen. Not only with the clothes they wear and the weapons they use and stuff but the story is also very similar to the icelandic sagas. Alround fantastic movie :)

‘The Lighthouse’ is not only my favorite Eggers film, but also probably one of the few movies where I can honestly say that literally every artistic choice had landed perfectly with me. For what it was going for, it achieved near perfection for my pallet.

The most disappointing thing about being a Robert Eggers fan is trying to get other people to like them as much as I do. Got my brother to watch the witch and he liked it. Then I got him and his wife to watch the lighthouse because I said it was my favorite movie of that year. They both hated it to an unbelievable degree. To this day they bring up how I wasted their time and like to say that I have terrible taste in movies. This coming from the two people who like every single adam Sandler movie... all of them

watching the lighthouse for the first time last week brought a tear to my eye. i was just so happy that something like it existed. i’m so grateful to live in the same timeline as eggers. same with pattinson and dafoe. they’re two of my all time favorite actors.

I saw The Northman with 3 friends, they don't really watch these types of movies. One's a gamer that doesn't watch movies much, the other is a action-comedy guy, and the 3rd is a marvel fan.

All of us came out loving every scene and that goes to show how good eggers is at writing a damn good story.

Couldn’t agree more about the Lighthouse being the one that really lasts the tests of time. There’s just something about it that sticks in your brain for a loooong time.

I’ve seen The Lighthouse 4 times and it somehow gets more engaging every time I watch it, it has to be my favorite movie

Personally I became a fan of his work ever since I went to see “The Witch” in the theater by myself and it really was the moment where I fell in love with his filmmaking because of his attention to detail in historical accuracy and the other part is how he made magic in those times seem real, like it’s not overly CGI. Honestly all of his movies are great and this will certainly not be the last we will see or hear of Robert Eggers. This guy is like an artist and a novelist with his film work and I am eager to see what he comes up with next. Currently he’s working on an adaptation of “Nosferatu” and possibly a “Rasputin” miniseries. Imagine if he did Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein or Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy? Anything is possible. Let’s see what Robert has in store for us!
