One of the best directorial debuts ever. He immediately had a style and attention to period accuracy that was all his own, and one of my favorite endings to any movie

Honestly the historical accuracy in the production design, costumes, and dialogue in Robert Eggers films is absolutely astounding. Both the Witch and the Lighthouse show an incredible level of detail and research into the time period reflected and The Northman seems that it will continue this trend

Although I slightly prefer The Lighthouse, this film is PHENOMENAL. Can’t wait for the Northman!

In a very recent interview Robert Eggers says he can't watch this movie cuz he says it's very embarrassing to him because he says it wasn't very well made and he was just not proficient in his film skills yet. This is crazy to me cuz I think it's perfect and the tension by itself is up there with the shining level of tension. It still is my fav movie of his and probably will be even after I see the northman

The Witch is easily one of the best horror films from the last decade. Watched it in the cinema and the audience was captivated. That ending, fantastic!!

Robert Eggers has become my favorite modern director and I can't wait for The Northman. In this age of box offices dominated by three-hour long comic book movies, he's just been out there crafting these dark and dense stories in some of the most authentic historical settings I've ever seen on film. In any other director's hands The Northman would probably be a four hour movie. I really hope people come out to see it, if it breaks box office records that would turn a lot of Hollywood on its head.

It's been ages since I saw this and read up on it but if I remember correctly, old witch lore said that boiling children and breathing in the fumes is what causes them to fly without a broom, so the twins are being boiled in the cauldron at the end which allows the coven to fly. Early on, Thomasin suggests they boil and eat Mercy because they're running low on food.

Such an underrated horror film. Doesn’t need to rely on gore or jump scares to creep you out.

That shot in 27:04 where William is looking up at something is theorised by many that he is seeing the witch fly with her broom just over their house! I love this movie so, so much!

Eggers, for whatever reason, is not happy how this turned out. I think it is just awesome.

This movie is so good and one I have watched many times. The shear horror that happens to the family to gain the addition of one to the Coven is terrifying. Also, the Rabbit is the Witch. Master class in true Horror film making.

Love this movie. Some people find the pacing boring but I think it builds the haunting atmosphere perfectly without dragging at all. Black Phillip is everything. 🖤🐐

P.S. That Goosebumps hat is awesome! The Lighthouse is great too.

Saw this in theater when it came out. I was so thrilled with it by the end of the film I stood up and cheered loudly. I really hope The Northman is as good as it looks. The Lighthouse is an incredible experience.

The VVitch was so awesome when I saw it in theaters in 2015.

Still today one of the best horror movies I've seen in a long time. And I've seen A LOT of horror movies. The thick, heavy atmosphere in this movie is palpable. The movie leaves you with a lingering sense of dread long after you finish watching it and imagery you won't forget easily. Not a jump scare kind of horror, rather a slow burn that gets under your skin and stays there.

Brilliant film. I love how like The Godfather, the title subverts expectations. We think The Godfather refers to Vito. It's only when we get to the end we realize the title character is Michael. And here, we think the title is about the mysterious hag in the woods but when we get to the end, we realize the title character is Thomasin.
