As a Irish/Brit I could never imagine the US an enemy but when it comes to Canada - they are our brothers and sisters - we owe them so much for having stood by us in the hard times.

If Trump wants to destroy NATO then this is the way to go about it. Canada belongs to the Canadians and the UK will not let them be threatened - even when we've little chance of victory. The US thought we'd no chance against Nazi Germany while Canadian pilots and soldiers weren't waiting to see who won. Canada is not a fair-weather ally of the UK and nor will the UK be a fair-weather ally to her.

The US may have the strongest military - but not when it's alone.

Threatening allies is the best way of loosing them.
