Presented on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.

Trauma-informed care is a buzzword in the juvenile justice field but there remain many questions about what exactly this means, how to implement it, and which specific practices improve outcomes for youth, families, staff, and agencies. This webinar will review specific interventions-practices-policies that exemplify a trauma-informed juvenile justice facility, provide tips on launching a trauma-informed care initiative, and discuss potential barriers and facilitators for becoming a trauma-informed organization. The presenters will share lessons learned and examples from grant funded projects in four states.

Presenters:
Christopher Branson, PhD is a clinical psychologist and Assistant Professor in the NYU School of Medicine whose work focuses on improving access to effective social services for youth and families involved with the juvenile justice system.

Carly Baetz, JD, PhD is a psychologist and postdoctoral fellow at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY. Dr. Baetz has more than five years of experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, and young adults involved in the juvenile justice and child welfare systems and has been trained in several evidence-based trauma treatments.
