I bought this ATV from Rip and Grip Motorsports in Clintonville Wi. Super nice owners. They also take trade ins. They will take almost anything on trade (mowers, scooters, motorcycles, trucks, utvs etc. Pretty cool operation. Go check them out!

Could have removed clutch assembly then started engine to confirm if it’s clutch or rod noise. Sounds like clutch needs serviced anyway.

Good job! I was given a 2005 Grizzly last year from a buddy at church. Spent about $1400 on it including new tires and a winch. Has a 5-valve head; put in a 686 piston and cylinder--it's DANGEROUS now! Love it!

I'd check out the timing chain inside of it to. It could be stretched out causing that knocking chattering noise to. There's three things to check out on it.

2vintage is the way to go if you want to learn something, I learned how to fix my dirt bike when it was running right just by watching him make a video about working on stuff, keep up the good work!

Yeah those Yamaha Grizzlies and the Kodiaks are some solid quads hands down. The first real quad that I rode when I was only 6 was a 2004 Kodiak 450. I grew up riding it on my parents land, and we did a lot of woods clearing for trails and campgrounds, so when you were riding it and brought the chainsaw out, that brought back a bunch of great memories for me. My Dad and I used to haul some massive branches with the Kodiak, that thing can pull way more than you'd imagine lol. We'd tye a chain around the tree and to the hitch on the quad. Was super fun. I'll never forget how much fun I had on that thing

I bought a Honda 350 years ago with "engine noise", yes it did sound similar to what you have. The muffle was rotted inside resonating the noise. New $100 aftermarket muffler and great bike made 3k on that one

Sasquatch put those tree limbs over the trail for a reason...

He is called "Swamp ape" in my neck of the woods.

I only use Yamaha engines for my work... but my work is out on the water, 300 days a week.

Good score my Northern friend!

I have a04 Grizzly 660. I love it, remember when looking at your oil level you do not screw the dipstick in, it is taken with out screwing it in just pushed in until you get to the threads. I did it wrong for years myself. Ran it low for years.

That's the needle bearing knocking on the connecting rod is knocking. From that burnt motor oil. It sounds like A bad needle bearing to me Joe. I'd rebuild it anyways. Cause it will eventually go out on it. Maybe not right away though. The clutches do make noises on those to. That's A rod bearing knock grinding noise inside of that engine. I'd tear it down., an replace it with A new one. A trick on that clutch needle to bearing pack it with marine grease lightly. Watch the difference in the sound.

I like the way you always go thru the carburetor to check that it works well that seems to be an issue sometimes but it's good to go thru it

I wouldn't consider that knock a non-issue.

If that quad has the 660cc motor it’s one of the best motors that Yamaha has ever made, they used it for many years in there side by sides. I’ve had several of the Yamaha 660cc 4wheelers and I absolutely love them, currently I own one of these it’s been very reliable. nice to see you finally get a great deal, congratulations.

For people thinking he “fixed” it, he didn’t. He got it running. That rod is going to come knocking straight through the cylinder and crank cases if he keeps riding it. It won’t last long.

I used to wonder, but now I’m POSITIVE you’re trolling us with some of these tool choices LOL. Tin snips for the zip ties? 😂😂😂

Oil is meant to be poured with the opening at the top, so the bottle doesn’t gulp air, but most people pour it wrong anyway for some reason.

In all honesty....with the amount of mouse house that was in there, I'm truly surprised there were no wires even ni nibbled on! You really lucked up where that's concerned & really with this machine in general! Nice score Joe! Thanks & God bless! ~ Scott 💙👊🏼

Great deal for a nice machine. I have learned a lot watching you go through everything that needs to be checked.
