WHY DO PEOPLE HATE BURTON?

I got a Burton Snowboard the other day. This was my first day riding it and it was great! This lead me to wonder why so many people hate on the brand Burton? Is it because of there popularity? Is it because there may be a very disliked rider on the team? Hmmmmm I’m not sure but all I can say is the board seems good hahaha!

Every year, Burton pays to outfit and transport a bus load of students from a low-income school district in Denver to learn to board at Loveland. Those kids had a blast! I have mad respect for Burton.

Pro tip of the day: Don't start watching snowboarding videos in july if snowboarding is your life ...it's gonna be another tough 6 months

People hate burton because burton is arguably the face of snowboarding. Snowboarding was built on a counter culture vibe (by Burton ironically) so if it’s too popular snowboarders will hate it. Honestly, a lot of my gear is burton except my deck and boots. I love my burton gear. It’s gear made by a huge company so if anything goes wrong they are quick to fix it and you can usually find it pretty cheap during end of season sales. Ride what’s fun. Worrying about gear brands is for skiers.

The solution for the bindings coming loose is Blue Loctite (blue is removable). The reason it happens is that hot temperatures make metal expand, cold temperatures make metal contract. Every time you move your snowboard from a warm environment to a cold one (car, house, lodge to outside ice and snow) the metal expands and contracts and causes it to become loose.

Their boards are a little overpriced but no one can lie they make good bindings jackets, gloves and all accessories but yea i got a Salomon for a way better deal

Burton is a great company. I think people just want to be cool. Hating burton doesn't make you cool. Stay in school.

I love burton bc they have deepest pockets for product testing and product reliability. Always stick with their bindings at least

EST isn’t even trademarked. People hate on them without the knowledge!! Burton wants every company to use it, so snowboarders don’t have that awful dead spot and has more lively flexibility with your board. I’m not in love with Burton, but no reason to hate the pioneers of the sport i love.

EST pro tip! To stop screws in EST bindings to become lose. Put some blue Loctite (thread lock) on the screws before you put them in and then just tighten them very tight. Works as charm. But every time you need to loosen the screws to adjust the bindings you have to apply loctite again.

I've worked in rentals and one trick that seems to help if you know exactly what setting you want for EST is to get the thinnest rubber washers you can find and put them between the board and binding. That can help with making sure it maintains grip when you stomp it. That said I much prefer LTR bindings for the peace of mind.

They key to keeping the EST bindings tight is to tighten each screw a little bit at a time while going back and forth between the two. Don't screw one all the way in and then do the other.

I"m 51 and I started snowboarding when I was 18.Basically the only companies making snowboards where Burton, Kemper and Sims. Most hills would not allow you to ride on them. The boards where heavy and the bindings kind of sucked.I have tried baseless, step in and of course your standard bindings. The thing that has changed over the years are the boards are lighter and more flexible. The bindings are lighter and more comfortable but they are basically the same technology, plastic with straps. You can say you hate Burton but they are the only company that are still around other than Sims. They are more successful than any other snowboard company because most of them go under. They don't always make the best products but they have great branding.
