I'm a huge Tesla fan but I've always been a little bit confused by this subject myself. Thanks for the great video and explanation!

Keep in mind while there is traditional coding involved in FSD, the heavy lifting is done via machine learning. Every Tesla on the road is training the core system via an upload of data back to Tesla servers. No other company has this much real world data to use for training. Even if you didn't pre-purchase FSD the car is still always comparing what it would have done to what the driver actually did and send any key deviations back to Tesla to learn from it. Pure genius.

4:38 Planes can land themselves, but the pilot still needs to be able to take over if something happens and to get it along the apron to and from the runway.

Thank you for clearing this up. I did not know the difference

Thanks for clearing up basically every misconception I had. I was NOT aware of all this.

Just took delivery of my Tesla Model 3 with full self driving. After driving millions of miles in other vehicles and watching others drive I definitely will trust this Tesla, once it reaches full self drive capabilities to drive more safely than 90% of the drivers on the road. The Model 3 does not text and drive, does not drink and drive, does not get sleepy and does not make poor blind spot lane changes. And doesn’t get road rage. Improvements on the software are going to increase exponentially over the next year with all the new Teslas coming on board.

So long Uber drivers. Level 5 autonomy is the new driver. 🤷🏽‍♂️

So when is Tailosive Automotive going to be a channel?

As a Pilot, I must correct you. Modern day Airline equipment, such as the A 321, 330, 380, Boeing 777, 787, 747 400 and others, can indeed land by themselves. In addition, Auto Thottle allows assisted take off and complete power management maintaining climb and decent profiles. approach and landing airspeed. Planes can fly from wheels up to landing entirely on "autopilot".

A good, clear video that explains these two functions well. Great work!

I think full self driving is self explanatory and autopilot follows another car with advanced tech to follow the road as well but still need human input from time to time

Thank you, no one else has done such a great job of explaining this!

You explained this perfectly, thank you!

Autopilot on airplanes can technically land on its own. They don't use it because of safety issues related to environmental factors mainly. But on a lone air strip with perfect weather, it'd land just fine on its own.

The BEST DESCRIPTION of the difference between Autopilot and Navigate on Autopilot [FSD]!
Thanks!

Tailosive, there was a plane in the 1960s that had full self-flying capabilities. Not enough money was raised to manufacture more, but it was able to leave the gate, set its flaps, takeoff, turn, set altitude, speed, and land all on its own.

Great vid! I'm always here when there's Tesla content!

Tesla should pay you for your informative videos. Thank you!

What you said about autopilot on airplanes isn’t true. The planes can land themselves but in the United States it’s required to have a pilot take off and land manually.

Full self driving from highway on ramp to off ramp is available on model 3's right now. This includes the car taking interchanges/exits automatically and over taking slower cars without driver input.
