I think after watching your first impressions video of this iron label, It got my expectations to the right level. when I finally got the guitar and got it out of the box, it was exactly as you said it would be. I just couldn't get rid of the RG8. for some reason I find the stock IBZ8 pickups perfect for clean tones. so It's interesting to combine both of them, I'm glad to see you didn't regret selling your RG8, specially after investing more money with those upgrades. Thanks again for your videos man, Enjoy the stormy weather!

I went to a 7 string after about a year of guitar playing. Been playing for almost 2 years. I find the wider neck more comfortable

I’m a 7string guy. I don’t like the feel of the 8’s and 6’s feel like toys now. Just my preference. I think you made the right choice. You’ll have more room for bass in the mix now, too.

I agree with the “6 string wanting a little more”. I’m a 6 string baritone guy for the most part, but I wouldn’t trade my ESP Ltd SCT-607B for anything. I don’t need another 7 or more strings(maybe another SCT in a different color). But honestly, my baritones can go as low as any ERG.

I just have my custom 7 string made with a local Luthier over here. Mi first 7 string. I'm excited, even more with your video :')

I just got my first seven string a few months ago. I’m not even interested in 6 strings anymore. 7’s are lit. I bought mine blindly as well, and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. It brought out talent in me I didn’t even know I had. I’m never going back. Lol

You've been playing guitar for about 10 years, and presumably grooming that beard for even longer - that beard is PERFECT! Thanks for helping talk me into getting a 7-string. Picked one up today and so far I'm totally digging it.

I went from 6 to 7 to 8... Each a few years at a time and I can EASILY say that there's just nothing like a 7 string. I want to get rid of my 8 and go back down to 7 soon. I might still be interested in an 8 way in the future, but I'd have to drop a ton of money into one, because I'm generally not satisfied with the one I have now... Granted, it's really cheap lol, but there's just something about the clarity of a 7 that I'm not sure can be achieved by an 8. (Veil Of Maya couldn't even do justice with them) ((Sorry, Matriarch is better but the latest album's good too)) I play my 8 as a Dropped 7 and do not utilize the low E string almost at all.

I actually ended up getting a chip in the paint of my Ibanez the other day and it left me quite heartbroken.

How did you adapt going from 6 string guitar to 8 strings? If you played 8 string guitar the 7 string should be little easier? I played 6 string all my life. I wanted 7 string for awhile, I needed 24 frets also, 21 frets sucks. I'm lost on this 7 string. I'm not playing 6 string again, until this guitar feels like my 6 six string Comfortable.

I got my first seven string in like 2010, and holy shiit. It made my life a lot easier. I rarely use a six string anymore, cause you can just use the 7 as a six string. 7 strings is the perfect mix between heavy and easy, in my opinion.
I did the same too. Got an 8-string, sold it for a 7, and just .. went on from there.
Cool video! :D

Hey man, I'm happy that you still like your guitar after set backs. After owning two cheaper 7 string guitars I recommend for everyone to spend money and get a new or used high end 7 string guitar. The playability is so much different and example you don't spend time adjusting string height or finding right string gauge and get frustrated. (I did haha)
I recently bought a Japan made used Ibanez 6 string after I sold my cheap 7 string Jackson guitar. My playing and satisfaction went over the roof ! And I feel like I was struggling in my guitar practise before and now with that high end Ibanez I'm getting progress again. Have a great day Brandon !

I couldn't focus on anything except for his headstock almost hitting his keyboard more than once.

I switched to a 7 string about 1 year ago and will never go back to a 6...like you said, it's the perfect median for those wanting more from a 6 but not wanting an 8. I got a used 2011 Ibanez RG7321 online for $190...I changed out the stock pups to a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge and a Jazz in the neck...now I can downtune that sucker to drop E 8 string tuning without any clarity or intonation issues at all.

I played a seven string at my local music store and really liked it, but it was way too pricey any recommendations for a cheap, but good, 7 string?

Glad you are happy with it! I watched this video with my RG7 in my lap, noodling away. Those Dimarzio pickups should sound great, and for me I wouldn't change them. Look forward to seeing more videos with the 7 string.
Cheers from Australia
