I am a toxicologist. This vaccines cause this and that talk is a superficial conversation that is pointless unless we are talking about specific ingredients and combination of ingredients (the so-called cocktail effect). Can vaccines cause diseases? Yes! If they have certain ingredientes. A good example is the smallpox vaccine that has been shown to potentially cause heart disease and has been discontinued (except for military personnel). The good news is that most vaccines are probably safe. Probably, because detecting long term chronic toxicity requires decades of research and the presence of lots of funding and motivation for this research. The issue is that this is not in the interest of big pharma! They just want to pump out the vaccines as soon as possible and cash in as much as possible. So once a vaccine has been licensed there is little motivation and funding to keep researching it! Nobody can tell with 100% certainty that a vaccine will not cause or contribute to the development of a disease 10, 20, 30 or more years later in one’s life without research that follows up cases for decades. So while RFK Jr. is imprecise in his criticism, he is right one thing: people telling you that new or recent or older but not well researched vaccines are 100% are actually saying that they BELIEVE them to be 100% safe. That is not the same as proof!

As a person with autism, I can tell you that RFK Jr.’s comments on these conspiracy theories are truly despicable & disgusting. He has no idea how autism works and how people like me have to live our lives.

The MMR has been almost universally given to children for 50 years. Anti-vax campaigns like RFK Jr have led to decline rates & increase in measles outbreaks. On the other hand autism is on the rise primarily because of improving diagnosis, access to care & awareness

My two grandkids are autistic, I knew they were different when they were born - before a single vaccine. Dude was hit in the head. 🤪

I’m a senior. I’m autistic. There was no MMR vaccine when I was a kid. Guess I’m a unicorn.

I'm a veteran and we got so many vaccines.
I'm fully vaccinated when the Covid vaccines became available and will be going in September to receive an updated Covid & flu vaccine.

Who in the Democratic party would believe anything he says.

"Two studies have been cited by those claiming that the MMR vaccine causes autism. Both studies are critically flawed." The CDC cites hundreds of reputable research studies that prove without a shadow of a doubt that vaccines, including covid, do not cause autism.

I belonged to a moms group of children with Autism. Someone brought up the vaccine thing. One parent did not vaccinate her child for anything ever. Guess what, he had Autism.

Do people in the USA have even the slightest idea of just how bonkers you look to the rest of us? Not that we’re perfect but you know, really?

When I was a kid they rarely diagnosed people for having autism. It was only given to people with extreme cases.

The question do vaccines cause autism has been asked and answered and they don't.

I followed this in perhaps a bit more depth and let me try to summarize the situation. We know vaccines don't cause autism because we know that autism is caused by changes in the underlying structure of the brain which are in place even before birth.

Some of the times when people claimed that a vaccine turned their kid autistic, they made childhood videos of the kid available to experts who found signs of autism before the vaccine, before the supposed event that turned them autistic. It's just that the parents didn't recognize them. The fact is kids get a lot of vaccines at the same time as the effects of autism become more noticeable so it's inevitable that some parents will begin to notice it around the same time as their kid got a vaccine. That creates the illusion of the vaccine causing it. But as David pointed out many studies have been done which didn't back up that claim.

Another thing anti-vaxxers like to throw around is the increasing rates of autism. But that's likely an illusion, it's not that there are more autistic people, it's just that we are finding more of them. Back when I was a kid we didn't talk about autism, those same kids would have been diagnosed with other things. And here's the really vicious thing, the rest of the world would never have heard about them because they would have been put into care homes and basically hidden from the public. Now school's attempt to enable them to stay with the rest of their classmates, they are more visible, so it looks like there are more of them.

And if I may comment on Junior's sudden pivot to try to vilify aluminum instead, he got his whole start cleaning that Mercury was the cause of it. He formed an entire non-profit singularly focused on Mercury. He got them to take it out of all childhood vaccines. He promised everyone that that was going to cause autism rates to drop. That didn't happen, he was wrong, but because he was addicted to anti-vax money at that point he couldn't admit that he was wrong and he renamed his charity and started embracing basically all anti-vax beliefs and even many other forms of medical quackery like claiming that 5G is causing health problems and even opposing fluoridation of water.

But the thing about aluminum is, it's a very common element. I know you may tend to think of it as just that lightweight metal that we make airplanes and soda cans out of, but it's everywhere. The dust you are breathing when you are outside likely contains aluminum. You couldn't avoid it if you tried. That mercury in the vaccines was tested and found to be not harmful, and Junior unwittingly proved those tests to be correct. Aluminum has also been tested and found to be safe. I sure hope he doesn't manage to force vaccine makers to remove that. It won't stop him, he will always find something else, to the anti-vaxxer the vaccines are always the problem no matter how many times they've been proven wrong in the past.

My son developed autism without vaccines...there is NO correlation. He is fully vaccinated now and he did not regress whatsoever. This is a conspiracy that is hurting rather than helping. I would not change myself (autistic) or my son because autism isn't something you cure but you manage in a neurotypical world. We need advocacy, representation and equality.

If it weren’t for the name he carries, he’d just be that really annoying guy at the end of the bar everybody tries to avoid.

A recent study links the consumption of aspartame (think diet pop) by the mother to autism in children. The consumption of aspartame has been steadily increasing over the years.
