I’ll still bet my money on the Land Cruiser if you’re planning to keep the car past warranty period.

Who organizes these comparisons at Cargurus?? Why would you compare a base model to a loaded model? Also, people who actually take their cars off road know that ground clearance alone doesn’t matter if you have no articulation. The LC articulation is far better.

The unfair part is that you got a 1958 trim vs a Defender with hydraulic suspension…

In America, most Land Rovers are just vanity symbols and never see dirt😀

Comparing a loaded Defender to a base model and discussing the hard plastic surfaces in the Cruiser and the plush Rovers interior.

Correction- the Land Cruiser has one electric motor between the engine and the transmission. There isn’t 2 motors as stated on the video. And I lifted my 1958 2” and installed 275 75R 17’s
I have 3” (76.2mm) of ground clearance. It’s gonna be a good off road vehicle for me!
(I do like the style of the Rover also, but reliability)…

I had them both. Both about same price. Leased the defender because of reliability but bought the Land Cruiser . Truly love both but don’t trust the reliability of defender. Both are fun to drive in Colorado mountains.

Thank god… some honesty around the awesomeness of the defender (I’ve owned a 2022 and 2024).

Helpful guide before making a comment:

1. We can't always get the exact same spec to compare. That is not how our world works.

2. I say in the interior section that the base Defender has better materials than the base Land Cruiser.

3. I say in the Specs and Dimensions that a coil-sprung Defender has better off-road capability than the coil-sprung Land Cruiser. The video even compares the specs of the Defender's standard springs vs. air springs.

4. The four-cylinder Defender is still in production for 2024 and 2025 model years. It is the Defender S P300.

5. I explain in the Pricing section why a Defender at lower prices compares fairly to a Land Cruiser at higher prices. And even at higher prices, the Defender has more standard equipment, more capability, and more value---which is what I say in the Verdict.

6. I have tested more than 800 new vehicles in over 16 years. I am not perfect, but I know what I am talking about through experience. This includes testing multiple versions of the Defender, which is why I can confidently discuss another trim's attributes that is not being filmed.

The upper trim Cruiser has the same cameras all around the vehicle as well

Cargurus should know better not to put 1958 vs the Defender, a more honest comparison would put the LC trim. Theres a reason no watches cargurus.

I’d love to take the best of both cars and merge them into one: the engine, looks, and interior from the Defender paired with the reliability and total cost of ownership from the Land Cruiser. Both are incredibly capable off-road!

That price for a Prado? Toyota is getting comfortable with their "reliability" reputation. It's like Apple in a car world, "take it or leave it"

I love how the windshield goes above the doors on an upright and boxy shape!

The resist material is a specal low carbon footprint synthetic leather. Its an option. The defender comes with leather standard.

God! I want a land rover so bad. Please land rover work on the reliability so I can buy one immediately.

I was just at the dealership today and saw the new Land Cruiser in person. I was kinda surprised that a 60K SUV still came with a cloth interior.

The Defender has a sport mode - you just need to slide the transmission stick over to the left (you can see it at 16:44 in the video). My 130 has it with the same drive train and it changes the entire vehicle dynamics and response.

Great review👍 it helped convince me to buy a 2024 Defender D300 X Dynamic HSE (with the air suspension packs)……..! Time will tell…..🤞
