This is basically a CFT that marines have been doing for years. Kettle bells represent ammo cans, weighted sleigh represents a buddy drag. Although I’m not sure about the ball throw, I give it 2 months tops before we hear about someone who threw the ball straight up and died via medicine ball

Also let me get this straight, if you want to score 100 on every event, you better be captain American, because according to the score sheet, for 100 in every event, you have to do 25 leg tuck on a pull up bar, 1400 inch(not sure, no unit listed, just a guess, which is 36 yards)? for the power throw, which is about 36yards, 400lb dead lift 3 reps, 80 T push up, 250m drag(100lb) and carry (40lb) in 1:30, and 2mile run, now to max you have to complete in 11:30. Sounds like the good idea fairy strike again.

What a way to “end” a twenty plus year career, going out with a bang as the kettle bell crashes into my ankle

Is there any reason this video sounded like they are trying to promote an apple product?

Let's see how this turns out. Excited for this

My wife is in the army, she is weights 115lbs and they want her to dead lift 400 for a max score. I want to see every soldier lift 4 times their body weight with out spending ever available minute in the gym and without getting injured. Some army fitness gurus didn’t think this through.

I severely hurt my back while I was serving in active duty. The doctor at the army hospital refused to x-ray me and said I'd be ok. Not much else was done after that even though I kept going back because I was still in constant pain. After a deployment I ETS'd and finally got an MRI at the VA and they said I had broke my sacrum and pinched my sciatic nerve and it had healed all fucked up due to improper diagnoses and treatment. Now I have severe arthritis in my lower back, I can barely lift anything anymore, and my posture has completely changed (I walk like I have a stick up my ass). This was back in 2011. My disability claim is still going through. (The VA lost the MRI results). I'm saying this not to complain, but out of concern, because I hope the army is also improving diagnosing and helping out injured soldiers on active duty, instead of constantly brushing them off thinking they're shamming out. Thanks for reading. Sorry for the long post, it's just something I care about.

Somebody in the Department of the Army is reinventing the wheel. Ain't a damn thing wrong with doing pushups, sit-ups and running two miles to measure a soldiers fitness. Who's getting a promotion or a bonus out of this re-invention. LOL! Seems the standard motto here is "IF IT AIN'T BROKE, WELL, FIX IT ANYWAY!"

I'm in my mid 60's, been retired over 20 years and I'm still in damn good shape from training for that 3 event APFT.

Seems like a bunch of chairborne rangers sitting around the office drinking milkshakes and sucking down candy bars who couldn't even meet the minimum standards on what they're re-inventing got their eyes on that fat bonus or promotion they're gonna get out of this "new wheel."

who's going to Combat in PT gear lol

I agree that the current APFT (2 min PU, 2 min SU, 2 MR) is a bit outdated. But the beauty of it is it's simplicity. As long as there is appropriate running surface available and a stopwatch, the test can be given anywhere. This new ACRT looks very equipment intensive. Will units be forced to purchase the items needed rather than purchase field equipment for the Soldiers? What about deployments? Are units now going to have to pack all that stuff into a CONNEX and build pull up bars? Also what about perm profiled Soldiers? A few years ago I blew out my back during an FTX. Ended up have back surgery which resulted in a perm walk profile. I don't see how in the hell I could do the dead lift event.

Does this mean they got rid of the sit ups?

And how much was spend on the study for this PT replacement test? Remember when they were going to change it back in 2009 ish? That one didn’t go to far. Will this be any different or will it change again in 3 years? Time will tell.

The good idea fairy really swooped in on this one. We're going to make untrained athletes do competitive deadlifts and its going to REDUCE back injuries. If you believe this, you are crazy. I know the counter argument, "But you need to train your Soldier to have proper form." Its never going to happen. The 18 year old killer, in their quest for the perfect score is going to go to the gym, load up the bar, and form is going out the window. Also what about the Soldier that tweaked their back, doesn't want to say anything, and has a PT test the following day? You are going to cripple them! For the old APFT if you did the exercise with improper form, you get stopped, told your deficiency, and sent to the end of the line. With this test if you have improper form, you hear a pop, lay on the ground, and get sent away on a litter. But its going to REDUCE injuries.

This actually looks pretty fun tbh, better than the regular boring push ups sit ups etc.

I haven't met a single soldier in recruiting that cannot pass the minimum with zero training(minus the two mile run). Good start, up the standards.

I say keep the same pt test. This new test is supposed to determine combat readiness but not everyone in the army is going to see combat. If they want to change it change it for combat arms MOS. Why do finance personnel have to test at a combat readiness level of a infantryman.
