About Bauen:
Bauen, which means to build in German, bridges the gap between home improvement inspiration and successful project execution. Bauen will provide the DIYer with step by step instruction and a complete kit of supplies. As new home owners, we have experienced the overconfidence supplied by home improvement TV shows only to stumble in the execution phase. Bauen fills in the information gaps left by the professionals on TV and eliminates the need to make multiple trips to the hardware store by supplying an inclusive kit of supplies for each project.

This is the greatest example of a DIY video. No BS, right to the facts, things to consider, on to the next step.

You saved my life with this video. I've been using the wrong grit paper by far based on other videos. Just ordered a carbide scraper as well. I've been sanding with 60 grit without carbie scraper and I've barely made a dent.

That was valuable information. I don't do this myself but I need to have an overview of what needs to be done. Thank you.

Awesome Job! The belt sand sander is a good choice but maybe combine it with a 5" orbital sander.

I was having great difficulty trying to remove estapol from hardwood steps; using belt, orbital & detail sanders. I watched your video & noticed the Carbide Scrapper. I did 95% of the work with the scraper with a great deal more control & less chance of damage. I could see the Estapol shavings first followed by the timber shavings a few scrapes latter. I could also get to within 1mm of the stringer, so only had to do a quick hand-sand & the timber steps were ready. Thanks for an informative & pleasantly narrated video.

Great video, love your tips like using a cut up
Piece of cardboard on corner to prevent damage to other corner piece. Thanks for being very clear and easy to follow instructions.

what grade sand paper was used at the beginning when using the belt sander? I am sending but the oil stain I used will not go away. Could the stain have penetrated to deep and impossibile to remove completely.
Thank you!! I need help :)

OMG!  Thank you so much.  This looks just like my staircase.  I'm going to do this within the next few weeks.  Keep these coming. :-)  If you can show how to fix squeaky stairs and wood floors, that would be great.

Hello, thank you for this video it was so helpful to me I am redoing my steps. and they look exactly like yours I just pulled the carpet off, and I don't want to do anything to time consuming with my steps I just want to get the dried paint off, and tidy them up, because I want to paint them black, and put stair treads, or runner on. My question is do I have to sand them, or can I simply clean then off as I mentioned, and paint them with a paint with primer already in it? thank you so much in advance!!
