the gear ratio difference between 1st and 2nd is the greatest (for my car 1st gear is 3.8, 2nd gear is 2.4) so you need the rpms to drop further before you can let the clutch out. in 3rd 4th 5th and 6th you can drop the clutch instantly but in 2nd you pause for a second, smooth shift

Idk how to smoothly get a good launch in first gear. My car always jerks or loses traction but in second gear I can just floor it no issues 😢

Usually happens when people change gear to soon because first gear is so much tighter then 2nd, usually pulling the first a bit harder and then getting on to 2nd makes it smoother, no need to rush the change

I just bought a 6MT Camaro today. I can't for the life of me get that 1st to 2nd smoothly. I don't know what to do. It's my first manual. My poor roommate was hitting his head back and forth the whole time XD

the gear stick selects the gear, it doesn't reconnect it, the clutch does

I’m starting to think i suck, then I drive any other manual car besides my wrx and it’s completely fine. I think it’s just that car man it’s fucking weird.

Fr, in my RSX with a stage 2 clutch I struggle to get it smooth and I feel like I take to long to fully release the clutch but I guess people are saying that’s normal 🤷‍♂️

It's the car. Like my G35 took me a while to get used to. Its a stage 2 clutch, so super sensitive. Unlike my 01' civic and 2000 ford ranger. It actually shifts so smooth even if you mess up a bit. But yeah its definitely the car. My 6 speed took me a while to shift smoothly especially on my launches.
