You should never go to neutral when shifting from 1st to 2nd there is a synchronizer that helps you shift fast and smooth from 1st to 2nd.

Gear ratios, idle rpms and rev ranges all exist please educate yourself about the same with respect to your car model and transmission. You'll end up shortening the cars lifespan and also reduce the efficiency if you select gears basis the speed instead of the intended rev ranges...

You can also skip some of those gears if the can gains good momentum eg. 1-2-4 etc

You only need to go to N when shifting up or downfrom 2 to 3 and 4 to 5. Also you can just simply come to neutral for a slow stop instead of gearing down to avoid using the clutch.
