Bring a bar suspended from a point to one side, and it will become a pendulum, swinging back and forth. Its motion looks the same every time you do it. If you add another bar making it a double pendulum and push it strong enough, the motion becomes unpredictable and chaotic. The entire point with the double pendulum is that they *don't* start from the same position. The point of the demonstration is supposed to be that even a minute difference, even small enough that we can't see it, can have a drastically different outcome. But they aren't starting from the "same" position - the movement is chaotic, but it's not random.

Enjoy the dance :) Yes definitely, it's satisfying to watch, it looks like a synchronized dance, where everyone does what they want, and the two complement each other perfectly. I love it. I have one at home, but a double had to be thought of.

As stated it's chaotic, not random, on a technical aspect, random is nearly impossible, while chaotic is 100% predictable if you know it's exact starting point

Ok so technically speaking isnt this a 3 body problem, with each pivot point being a seperate body?
The tip of the "chaotic bar" is the 1st body, the pivot point between the 2 is the 2nd and the main pivot point is the 3rd
