This is a quick over view of the Veritas Bevel Up Jointer from Lee Valley.

The plane is 22" long and is a dream to use.

If you are working with rough lumber I'd try this instead of the Jack plane in order to flatten the uneven surface but than return to the Jack but basically this is designed exactly the same as the Low Angle Jack. It is simply the longer version with a mouth that can be removed from the plane. I do like the design, it is also noticeably weightier than the Jack. As far as having a sharp blade, it only takes a few minutes to sharpen a blade so that it cuts just fine. I've never needed to try for some super sharp blade.

Norris style, not Norton Style. Dont mean to contradict you, but in case others are trying to find out more about the adjusters since they date back to infill planes.

I have one of these and it does give good results BUT the thick irons are a pain the sharpen with the 38 degree bevel being nowhere near as sharp as the traditional 30 degree bevel down iron. It's best to choose the 25 degree bevel iron as there's less steel to remove when resharpening to 38 degrees. And the O1 version takes a sharper edge rather than PMV 11 and is easier to sharpen.

It’s only a lever cap if it has a lever on it. This one does not. So it’s called a cap iron.
