So this is like a set of 8700K chips that they found performing very good in tests and didn't want to retail, instead storing them up, then selling out as different chips?

I would really love to see this at price tag of $80.86, but I much rather believe it's $8086.00, knowing Intel.

My dad had an original 8080 chip from Intel in 1977.

My 1st PC had an 8086 processor. Loved my Amstrad 1512 with dual 5.25" drives. Looks like I'll be looking at a new board/Pro and Ram, depending on price. Please Intel, let me reown a new 8086.

I still have my 8086, with the original enormous Hercules dedicated GPU. That computer is so heavy. I want those two CPU's next to each other.

5.1GHz boost? If Intel released it as a stock 5.1-5.2GHz base clock with 5.5-5.6GHz boost I'd be all for it as that would be something great for the Anniversary of the 8086. This 8086 is just a slightly better binned 8700k with a fancy name to attempt to get a higher premium out of it.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I'm getting this VID late, just arrived in the store today. Don't have this in a build yet (planning on inserting into a RoG Hero when it arrives). Just wanted to let you know that when I purchased the original Intel 8086 when it was released (not saying how long ago that was... :o). But, I WILL say, it was a LONG awaiting purchase ($3700 if memory serves, on my first Credit Card). It was my first real PC Experience, and started a lifetimes search for "Faster & Better Builds"! Hope you get and enjoy yours soon!

thanks for sharing,
J

I had several 8088 and 8086 systems. and pretty much every family of intel chip since then.

95W TDP by adding 8.5% boost clock on a CPU that is already underspecified in TDP? Somehow I don't see that happening. The 8700K should be rated at minimum 105W TDP to prevent thermal throttling. The rumoured 8086K should realistically be minimum 125W TDP. Not that it matters too much or anybody cares but as an electronics engineer it's disheartening to see companies deliberately underspecifying their components to deceive the general public.

I had an 8086 in my IBM PS/2 model 30, and have a working 8088 in a "luggable" PC clone with built-in Hercules screen

Didn't have an 8086, but my first system when I was a kid was a Honeywell with an 8088.
