With the money you'd spend extra to get the 8086k you can get a better gpu or cpu cooling solution which would equal better overclock/performance...

8700k isn't really silicon lottery anymore. I'd say if you buy new its likely you'll get a newer batch. All newer batches (C or D in the batch#) are almost gauranteed to do 5ghz without delidding at below or right around 1.3v.

If you were a normal person building a PC, this would be a bad CPU/GPU combo. It would make much more sense to buy either a 8700K for about $100 less, or a 8600K for about $200 less, then use those savings to get either a 1070Ti or a 1080.

I'm quite surprised at the temps on that 1070. That armor cooler is garbage. Likely because they are stupid enough to use the same cooler thats ok for the 1070 on the 1080 and 1080ti.
