Black Max Chainsaw Review and Test

In this video I review and test the Black Max Chainsaw from Walmart. I unbox it, go over its features, show you how to start it, then test it out cutting up a tree that fell behind my garage. It comes as either a 16" or 18" bar version. From what I can tell, the only difference between them is the 18" version obviously has a longer bar and chain and also comes with a case. I bought the 16 inch version for $128 and the 18 inch one was for sale for $159 at the time.

I've had one and used it for a year now. Very reliable starting. I love it.

I've had an 18" 38cc Black Max for the past 3 years, great little saw... still running great & cutting good...if you don't use them often, dump out the fuel when you finish & crank it to run the bowl dry, then you won't have to clean the carb every time you need it...🖖🏿😎👍🏿

The black max are regularly on sale.
I got the 20" 50cc for $130, regular $220.
They do have down sides. 1. The emergency hand brake spring are too tight needs be cut down if not can bog the engine kill the chain.
2 it is all exterior plastic and easily broken so not recommended for heavy use
Pros- is assembled by black and decker from Honda engine parts that Honda sells to other companies that didn't meet level quality control to get the Honda badge . But are still way better quality than any other budget saw.

I have the 20" with the case, haven't run it yet, but had a big storm in NY and like 20 downed trees on My property.I also do not like the tip guard, taking that off asap.
Paid $270 for the 20" . See how it does tomorrow when I have to get out there. The case is sturdy and stacks nice.
Love cutting up firewood!
🔥🔥✌🏻

I was thinking of a Craftsman 14 inch saw but this one has a three year warranty and appears to operate very well. My only concern is who services the saw for any warranty needs?

I'm new to using chainsaws mine seem to work okay I took off a big limb from a tree got a 12-inch thick haven't had a chance to fully break it down but I noticed the chainsaw got extremely hot don't know if that's normal

I’ve had that same saw since 2019. I’ve had ran alot of small saws (logger) and I use this saw during hurricane Helene clean up and let me tell you I probably cut over 100 trees. Never skip a beat. It revs up so much higher than others.

And why so much rowing of the boat ? Aka moving the saw around
A decent chain. You sink the bar and let it pull chips on its own. You don't need to flail around like you do

It’s a good chainsaw for the money I put a Oregon chain on it and it will cut fast

That chain is called a skip tooth chain! There good in pine and fir but not so good in hard wood! I use oregon bar and chains on my saws!
