Imagine you can’t start your car in the morning to work because you’re not accepting the cookies and 893 advertising partners

They're about as different as the holding companies that own the brands.

When i was a kid I knew all the car makes. Now not bothered they bore me. When i see old cars now, I know what they are and they make me smile.

Your not allowed to use your phone while driving but it's OK for an interactive screen to take up half the dash.

Ive also noticed modern cars have stopped looking more modern. Its like we’ve reached peak new. A 2015 still looks new to me

The 90's was the golden age for cars imo. Brands were beginning to lose their individuality but you could still easily identify one from the other. Multivalve engines and fuel injection became the norm. Build quality and reliability was as good as it's ever been. Technology, gadgets and driver aids etc had improved but not to a point were it watered down the driving experience. Cars were smaller, more nimble and just more fun and raw.

I agree. Cars don't have any personality anymore.

Every true Car enthusiast will understand what Clarkson is talking about, Cars are not fun anymore, they are just dull transportation tools.

He’s right and what annoys me is how once affordable sports cars are now only in reach of the very wealthy

It's like that everywhere. Cars, motorcycles, architecture, music, movies, books.

So true. Used to look for car magazines and get excited about new cars, memorize all their names when I was much younger. I do still love cars but only the 'old' cars that used to be new and refreshing.

When he said this, I was actually relieved. For almost 5 years, I couldn’t identify anything either. Having his validation is pretty relinquishing. Truly the end of a pretty crazy childhood

He has a point. And it's not just cars: music, sports, cinema, anything that's meant to be fun, basically, is sanitized and made inoffensive.

Clarkson takes 30 seconds to destroy modern cars? Hammond only needs 5.

This goes for almost everything else.
I literally couldnt give a toss about any movies or tv shows anymore.

Nothing annoys me more than digital screens glued all over the interior of most major auto brands today, completely takes away from the aesthetics of design. Don't even get me started on 2.0 liter engines

I couldn't agree more. Cars are designed for politicians now. Not enthusiasts. Instead of building cars that people love and letting sales dictate profits, the philosophy is to build cars that are increasingly more expensive, cheaply produced, soulless, unreliable garbage. Management is completely out of touch, short-sighted, and clueless.
