Memory lane: my how 6 years has grown on you Laura😊!! You've grown from giving a technical talk with a "teacher voice" to a comfortable gardener companion taking us along on your day of gardening activities.

Serge Grondin Dude! ;) I let these dry for three days before putting them in a light cactus soil, then watered them lightly. Every single one of these cuttings rooted, and are still growing happily today! I've had success with this method every time! Thanks for your comment!

This is THE ONLY vid I could find on all of YouTube telling how to ROOT and not graft!! Thank u so much! I have a beautiful moon cactus with tons of babies I can't wait to root. Thanks again and I just had to sub after this lol.

I had an over watered cactus that had 9 babies on it. I just got then into some cactus soil and am anxious to see them root! Thank you for the oh so helpful video Laura. :)

Hi Laura! I just subbed to your channel and watch your most informative videos. While I've dabbled in tropical plants in the past, I'm fairly new to succulents and I'm fascinated with them. Their survival skills are like no other plant group. I think most people fertilize and water them as regular houseplants and fail because of thing like root rot. I feel like I've learned my lesson from an Echeveria and Jade plant. I overwatered them and they dropped a few leaves (petals) in protest. The entire plant was not lost, however, and I'm using this as an opportunity to propagate the fallen petals.

Thanks for the straight forward instructions. I have two large purple prickly pear that need trimming back, and now with this knowledge, I can take the pieces from their pruning & plant them in other areas. I'm excited to get started!

Thank you. You were concise and easy to understand. I have been looking for a day on how to handle cacti. Many videos are muddled either bad audio, the editing or just fly by the seat of the pants confusing.

I made a common mistake by buying a Eve's Needle Crest Cactus and not treating it for possible bugs. I was forced to do drastic surgery to remove the black rotting part, I saw a red mealy bug run as I working on it too. I literally cut this plant to pieces because the rot was so bad. After watching your video, I am sure I did the right thing. I threw out all of the soil and I am letting the cuttings dry before replanting. I made this mistake years ago and lost my entire collection of beautiful plants. I truly hope I can get it to regrow.

Thanks for this video, my cactus was looking poorly, but the stems were quite tightly packed so I missed the rot until it was too late. I've only managed to save a few small cuttings so hopefully I'll be able to propagate it. 🤞

Super cool! I live in Arizona and there’s cactus in every corner yet buying them at plant stores is soooo expensive. Glad to know I can regrow them from other cactus !

Thanks for all the info. I know little to nothing about cactii and trying to figure out how to treat them. What I thought was that you don't really water them from the top but rather put the pot they're in on a saucer of water and let them suck the water up... my cactii got quite fat from that but it seems the roots are getting quite unstable. Perhaps they are rotting, no idea really what that looks like. So far I gave the super fat one a little support by some sticks so it doesn't fall over and break. Anyway, thanks for the video's, they're really helpful!

I love your videos! I am learning so much.

Can I say, I am soooo jealous of your setup inside and out.
Although I’m primarily growing succulents because of limited space and sunny windows, I love watching you work outside. Your outside area look beautiful.
I have one question, and I am sorry if you’ve already answered this but although I looked though the comments, although I saw this question, I didn’t see an answer. I am assuming that for the first cactus (rotting one) there was not much to do with it or do you try to save it? For the second one, what do you do with the bottom portion? Do you let it sit and see what happens or do you discard it?
Again, thank you so much for sharing your time and knowledge.
