Today I will show you how to propagate your Christmas Cactus!! This is a very simple and easy propagation and takes very little effort! Once your Christmas Cactus is planted make sure that it gets a lot of sunlight and water when the soil is dry for two weeks! After that point you can begin to water more heavily because there is no chance of the cutting being damaged due to water rot.

So cool thanks! Found one of these outside a dumpster here in NV in the summer, it was wilted, dry and dying.. I flushed it w water and watered normally, came back QUICKLY! Leaves plumped right up & starting growing up straight! Now have to replant the leaves as they've gotten heavy and some fell off. Thanks! These plants are nice🌱

When I cut it off of the plant, I put it in water for around 3 months, until there were 3 inch long roots, and then I placed it in soil. Hope this helps!

I just water propagated Christmas cactus with Pothos in water...
Took about 2-3 weeks to have 2 inch roots. Putting them in soil today. 🤞

Just found your so happy; excellent tutorial! You made this such a joy to folks, as this is a very simple plant, but one that has gorgeous blooms when ready. I feel they’re really an easy plant for anyone to be able to take care of, once they get started.

If I may share this story: when my husband and I married, he brought along his grandmothers 100+ year old Christmas cactus. It did well for over 15 years then just lost so much life regardless of how I pampered it: it was an old pot, old dirt, etc.

I placed cuttings into water to form long roots, then placed the cuttings into a roomy container, covered the container with a large, clear plastic bag, wrapped a band to keep things somewhat occluded, so that the cuttings had natural humidity, watered them occasionally, and these little babies really thrived. When large enough to handle being out in the open, they got transferred into a new pot, with some fresh cactus potting soil and some perlite mix. So now we have a 4th generation of Christmas cactus that have the most incredible fuschia blooms!

Have a super day! 💐

Thanks. My grandma died two years ago, and I've been really scared of killing her cactus, so I've been trying to get some clippings to grow, and only one survived so far. I have a little more hope for the next few now thanks to this vid and the helpful comments. ❤

I’ve had success with one leaf many times over. Very easy to propagate.

The spring (Easter) and autumn (Thanksgiving) 'cactus' definitely root quicker in water in my experience. I just leave them hanging out of my fishtank water filter for 2 weeks. Once the roots take in water, they plump up super quickly making soil planting a breeze. I'm finding the winter (xmas) cactus a bit slow with that method though.

Gerry Thanks 1 million for all your advice. One-thing I need to ask you. After planting the cuttings should I keep them under a shade and once they have rooted should I put them in direct sunlight. Thanks 1 million and keep up the great work you’re doing.

My grandparents and other family has grew these plants for years and I have to.Just sticking a peace with two leafs in the dirt will work.If you dont over water them they will grow. Can put them in any size pot and grow them you dont have to transplant them unless you want to.Even when there root bound if you have them in a self watering pot they will still grow.

My nana taught me how to and I’m starting to see little roots- I cut it at the end of the “leaves” and put them in water

Do you put it in moist dirt or dry dirt to start the propagation
