S4 actually did get a sequel! S4+ Yogiri. They changed the upper to a thin mesh and changed the midsole geometry to basically match the Magicspeed 4 (whereas the original was basically a beefier Magicspeed 3). I think they made the footprint a touch wider as well, the medial side of my feet kind of hung over the midsole on the original but I don't feel that sensation in the S4+. It's very much become what the Magicspeed 4 is trying to be, and I'm not sure why the two shoes exist in the lineup at the same time and why Asics is pushing the Magicspeed internationally but keeping the S4 domestic. The S4 is now a much more accessible shoe, and imo much better than the Magicspeed for basically the same use case. It's a full-sized plate, and a much bigger pad of FF Turbo.
