In this video, we’ll take a look at the history of North Korean isolationism; why Kim is now buddying up to Putin; and how this emerging relationship might impact North Korea’s economy.

Our mission is to explain news and politics in an impartial, efficient, and accessible way, balancing import and interest while fostering independent thought.

TLDR is a completely independent & privately owned media company that's not afraid to tackle the issues we think are most important. The channel is run by a small group of young people, with us hoping to pass on our enthusiasm for politics to other young people. We are primarily fan sourced with most of our funding coming from donations and ad revenue. No shady corporations, no one telling us what to say. We can't wait to grow further and help more people get informed. Help support us by subscribing, engaging and sharing. Thanks!

"Putin and kim may be close, but nothing comes as close as a Henson shave"
Damn, that segue to the sponsored block was smooth... Almost as smooth as a Henson shave.

Some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice that I am willing to make.

Great video, this is my field. Minor critique, Juche is pronounced Joo-ché (ch as in chair)

Juche (주체) should be pronounced in English like "joo-chay"

North Korea produces urea (used in fertilizer) from coal. It is a incredibly expensive, labour intensive, process that is far cheaper to do using natural gas and oil. Since China has basically used it as a control lever previously, they'd be eager to switch their process to a natural gas/oil process (which is somewhat easy to do).
Even temporarily, Russia exports urea itself ordinarily too.

Small issue with1:20 the invasion of South Korea happened with Soviet arms sales, the Chinese didn't assist the North Koreans at the start of the invasion

I do love measuring how well a country is doing on GDP per capita, and Economic "FREEDOM", rather than life expectancy or infant morality rates (which are still lower than the south, but not nearly at the same level)
Also bro ignored the US sanctions stopping North Korea from importing food which would have prevented the famine in 1994
