I am a native speaker of Valencian ( Catalan ), and there are some interesting things I have noticed.
The verb comprar in Valencian ( in the real spoken language) can take the form:
Jo comprava
Tu compraes (com-pra-es)
Ell comprava
Mosatros compaem ( com-pra-em)
Vosatros compraeu (same)
Ells compraen (same)
This is commonly used, but the same person using this forms can use the forms with the "v" in the middle with no problem.

Another thing is that, for example, the verb cremar ( quemar in spanish, burn in enlgish) can take the form when turn into a adjective:
singular masculin: cremat
sg femenine: cremà
plural m. : cremats
pl f. : cremaes
The "standard" form would be:
sg m. : cremat
sg f.: cremada
pl m: cremats
pl f: cremades
In this case, the same speaker does not tipically use the two forms interchangeably, at least where I live. Here the standard option is never used.
This form is used in Spanish also, quemada turns into quemá. and quemadas into quemás.

I don't know if this information is usefull because I don't have any formal educacion in lingustics.

In some places in Spain (Andalusia) we often drop the last syllable all together in words like "hablada" or "doblada" and say "hablá" or "doblá", placing the emphasis on the last (second) syllable.

Luke, what is your opinion on constructed languages like Lojban or Esperanto? Have you learnt one or would you like to?
