I was in Century City and we were doing this Midnight Student Film Festival, back in early 70's, and this strange group, The Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo was playing when we got there. I peeked in and watched the show in amazement. Saw this red headed kid and asked him if he was the leader of the group (around 12 people, men and women) and he said his name was Danny Elfman. I asked him if he also wrote and arranged the music, and again, he said yes. I then told him he was going to go very far as it was some of the most original stuff I had heard in a very long time. Mind you, this was the 70's, and new and creative music was coming out every day, but Danny's music was on another level. Happy to see he never stopped pushing the edge of the envelope.
