Naval has been sustaining my intellectual digest during the entire COVID-saga. Deeply grateful!

Dear Naval, I think that Awareness and Conciousness is the most important thing. Without Awareness you are not going to discern between "fake science" and real science. For example, the PCR test do not tell you that you have a "virus", and yet many people believe in them because their low level of awareness. In short, inner technology is underrated outer technology is overrated. Cheers from CHILE, Andrea von Roth.

Matt Ridley in Rational Optimist talks about how it is not science that has advanced innovation and/or standard of living but rather 'engineers in garages tinkering'. I've been wondering (being the 'engineer in the garage' myself running a health-tech startup) if this is still true since so much technology and 'innovation' work today is highly scientific, at least in my view.

I'd happily return all of academia for an equal number of libertarian anarchists.
What good is the march of technological progress if you're a slave trapped in a global asylum? Give me liberty, and science will practically be a solved problem wtihin 20 years. Right now innovation is happening at a snail's pace of what would happen under liberty, and that rate compounds in real-time.

Do you think that the law of entropy is contradictory to evolution?

The delineation between science and progress in general is fuzzy as far as I can tell. Creative conjecture and criticism, trial and error correction in both cases.

Hmm not sure I agree completely

Don't get me wrong I love science and I am a student of it as a form of knowledge. However to assert that any knowledge that is not scientific in nature (empirical) is not steeped in truth is too shallow a view in my opinion. You can have empirical truth( scientific), logical truth (mathematic), or intuitive truth ( first hand experience). Of course they each have their place in what it is they can show to be true. For those who are interested I would highly recommend studying the philosophy of science to learn more about this

Where does humanity go when science, competition and game theory has turned Earth into a powder keg?

I do disagree with Naval on one point. There's really nothing wrong with saying "believe in science". When people say it they mean: trust the scientific process. E. g. take the vaccine. Understand that an answer that is arrived at scientifically may be very different to what your instincts are telling you.
