Equipment-Talk mit Deftones-Bassist Sergio Vega

"Das ist schon eine schwere Nachfolge, die man antritt, wenn der Bassist der befreundeten Band einen schweren Unfall erleidet und einen die Kollegen fragen, ob man denn nicht längerfristig für den Verunglückten einspringen mag. Sergio Vega, ehemals Bassist von Quicksand, konnte seinen Freunden von den Deftones nach dem Autounfall ihres Bassisten Chi Cheng diesen Wunsch nicht abschlagen -- und nahm die Herausforderung an. Zusammen mit den Deftones arbeitete er an deren aktuellem Album „Diamond Eyes", das Ende April erschien.
Am 7. Mai gaben die Deftones mit Vega am Bass ein Vorab-Konzert im Dortmunder FZW, wo wir mit Sergio einen interessanten Equipment-Talk halten konnten."

I really like Sergio. He is having so much fun filling in for chi and it shows. I don't think there is one video on you tube that he isn't sporting a shit eating grin. I saw them in Modesto this year, and the dude never stopped smiling.

Chi brought A LOT to the deftones, and I feel Sergio does too. You can just tell that his positive demeanor is contagious, and it came through in the new album.
