Melisandre was never the most powerful or the most clever but she always had the final word when she wanted it.

“Give us common folk one taste of power like the lion who tasted man. Nothing is ever so sweet again” Dope ass line

Just like superman has his cryptonite, Varys has the red priestess to keep him in his place. Kinvara and Melisandre do know how to unnerve him and caught him off guard. So entertaining 😄

When I moved from Sydney to London, my friends asked “will you come back to Australia?”… I told them, “I have to die in this strange country…just like you”.

The music was always so top notch. Once again, its this scenes most powerful asset.

She didn’t perfect Mellisandre immediately; but Carice van Houten grew more into her better than most. And by far, one shows most effective musical leitmotifs is for the red god.

Never ask the witch about your future. There are always a deadly consequences if you do,

I liked that line about being like a lion that has just tasted man, nothing is ever so sweet again

I was just casually watching, then I had the same reaction as Varys 😂

I like there being checks & balances of a sort for all the characters. Despite how good Varys & Littlefinger are at the game of thrones, neither puts much stock in magic. And in the show, magic leads to both their ends & humbles them.

Melisandre was never allowed to have a private personality, unlike Varys, that makes her the most wasted character on the show. She arguably had the most power of all the women save for Daenerys, and yet she was kept as a background figure and forbidden any real attachments on the show. Carice van Houten was originally considered for the Cersei part and that would have given her so much more to delve into as an actress.

And the ending is more poetic:

She dies of the ice.

He of the fire.

The last seasons were filled with death stares and ominous scenes and lines, and nothing came out of it.

The picture mixed with the sound is the best of the best

there was an air of familiarity in this dialogue that doesnt work with the books. I dont believe these two ever crossed paths before but seem to be aware of each other.

I took this scene as Varys trying to confront his fear (magic) by urging Melisandre to leave. Not for her, but because her presence unnerves him. In a weird twist magic beat him again but this time using Varys's own weapon against him. Knowledge, but of something he didnt want to know or seek.
