I took my dad's i5 2500, threw in a 1660ti and a SSD back in 2019. Runs almost everything I want at 60+ fps 1080p.

I used to run a system nearly identical to this. Had a 970 instead of 980 and sold it to a friend about 4 years ago. Glad to see that it will still perform well today.

last year i upgraded from a 970 to a 2070, left my card with my friend, he finished cyberpunk, played red dead online, and still uses a ddr3 board, that's the beauty of pc gaming

Still rocking the 4770k running at 4.3 since the day it was built back in 2013, put in a 1660 super last year and does everything I need.

Been using a 980ti for so long now and it still plays everything in at least 1080. Been having to ease off ultra settings but very doable.

Gaming can still be TOTALLY fine on older hardware. Thanks for this video. Ive been buying last gen stuff and used ebay parts for a decade. Sure Ive had a bad motherboard. Maybe I cant always run ultra settings, but I save 1000s of dollars.

Back in 2017, I was very happy I saved up for a gtx 1070.
Today, I am very happy I bought a gtx 1070 back in 2017.

Hearing Jay call a 4770k and 980 “old hardware” made me realize that my laptop with a 2630qm and a gtx460m is not a speed demon anymore

4:15 FYI, in my country even 750ti now sells more than when I sold it nearly 5 years ago. Depends on the location, things can get a lot worse than what you see on ebay.

Amazing how times fly by so fast. My son is going to be 8 next month I remember receving a MSI GTX 680 a day after he was born! I was still rocking a i7 2600K trying to save to upgrade to a 4770K. Sandy bridge lasted me several years.

I'm still gaming on an 8 year old PC! Still rocking an i7-4790K, 32gb DDR3, and a slightly newer 1080 Ti. Still handles every single modern game, at 60 FPS, using max settings at 1440p or 1080p and Mid to High settings at 4K. That 11GB of GDDR5X VRAM on the 1080 Ti really makes the difference.

Getting crazy high Graphics on 1080p and in some games 1440p, is what i experience with my 1070 by now. I am still impressed by that even i bought it 2 years ago.

Great video! My current gaming PC was an old Dell XPS 8700 I found that was going to be e-wasted. I saved it from the scrap heap and have slowly been upgrading it with used components over time to stay cheap. It's now almost unrecognizable from it's original form (new case, new GPU, SSD, etc) and it's still capable of playing most games with decent performance.

Narrator: *He couldn't remember.*

I'm on a 980ti and I never felt bad for myself. I'm glad its good enough to see me through the shortages.

I still remember when Vulkan first came out and Doom 2016 enabled it. Instant totally insane amounts of frames per second. Blew me away how much better it was, in terms of frame pacing, stability, etc, than DirectX.

This is top old hardware. Thanks for the video Jay, but it would be very interesting to see something more common like the GTX 660ti or GTX 970 (which was top hardware but very popular too).
