I look up to his humility.

Letting go of the ego, it’s awesome.

I knew a guy that was ex-airforce, and he worked with the K-9 units occasionally. He said there was one dog that was a loose cannon, that went for him once when his handler didn't have him leashed. He said he ended up on his back with the dog between his legs trying to bite his crotch, and he was holding it back by squeezing his legs together. He nearly lost the family jewels before the handler pulled the dog off, and the dog nearly lost his life because he was was armed and while keeping the dog at bay with his legs he was getting his sidearm out and he was planning on sticking the muzzle in the dogs mouth and pulling the trigger. Can't say I would have blamed him one bit.

As a Dutch shepherd/malinois guy. You hit the nail on the head with this one. These dogs are complete gangsters when they feel like it. Some of the most intense drive you can conceive.

That’s why I shake my head when I see a 120 lbs girl on TikTok or instagram with an untrained Belgian people really don’t have a clue what dogs are really capable of.

This is the kind of guy you want training other K-9 units.
He knows how tough those dogs are

NEVER snatch away from a dog bite. Their teeth are curved. Walk into the dog so they are unable to get a better grip and so they’re not pulling. Once you have control of the dog, go from there. Only grab the back of the neck or “scruff”. Anywhere else they can still turn and bite you. These scars on my hands will never go away.

Gave a friend of mine 2 German shepherds to protect his house while he's gone they came home and found a human finger in the window seal and their window broken out

i know he's telling the truth when he says his thoughts about being tougher than a dog evaporated instantly, if you've ever been bit by any regular sized dog you would understand this too.

I live in an apartment with paper thin walls. Your neighbor does anything, you hear it. My former neighbor, one day... started acting shady AF. He would visit his unit during random hours of the day, never the night...and would sleep in his car in the parking lot across the street. "odd....but not my business" so, I let it go.

One night, dude rolls in at around 1am. He isn't in his unit for more than 5 mins before I hear what sounds like an army rushing up the complex stairs. I pop my head out and men in black tactical gear (with patches that said ATF) with masks and a dog are in the hallway, covering both sets of stairs. Guys on the main floor, our floor, and the third floor. About 20+ operator types. All armed. They gsve me the 'shhh' finger, then motioned for me to go back inside and stay down. 😮

They pounded on dude's door and he was yelling back at them. They broke the door down and told him to this idiot started to make threats, listing the guns he had on him. Then I heard heard dog. He said "I will shoot the F'ing dog if you send it! Think I wont?" and that was it. The officers were he barely finished his threat towards the dog, when an Officer (I assume the K9's handler), firmly but in a surprisingly calm and casual manner, goes: "We know you are there. We hear your threats and believe you. Be advised, if you don't surrender immediately, the dog will be released" ...and he let the dog go at that moment. There was zero time for the dude to surrender. Had he tried....the fur torpedoe had already been launched and (my father in law is a former K9 cop, among other LEO roles he had) I've been told that those torpedoes, once fired.... they aren't going to stop. They have a job, they love doing their job and they won't let anything interfere with them completing their job! Dude was going to get bit the moment that handler finished talking....

Still, Dude started to yell at them, but only got about as far as "Fuuc-...".... then, intense barking and this dude, who was just acting like he was a 'badass, who is fine with threatening to kill ATF officers and their K9' ....instantly turned into (I can only describe what it sounded like from my unit) a 5 year old girl who is being attacked a grizzly bear! 😅

This high pitched, literally would have thought it was a child being tortured if you heard it out of context, scearming: "NOoooOOooOoo! NnnOOoooO... SO SORRY! Please! Ok, I, Get It Off....[Legitimate Crying from the pain and fear] I'm So Sorry! 😮

😅 Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I was excited....for the K9! He must have been so proud! He was having a BLAST doing his job, which he did expertly! Good boy!

Turns out, the dude was an ATF member himself, but had been stealing confiscated drugs and guns from the ATF and selling them! He offered to sell me a gun when first got to know him, but I turned it down when he said "Plus, it's untraceable, as well as fully automatic". At the time, I said no because I thought "BS! Yeah, you have full automatic weapons in your unit and you're going to sell them to me. oh, and they are untraceable. Why would I want that? I couldn't use it.... if I got seen with it, I'd be in federal trouble! not gonna happen. In fact, this guy is either lying or this is a setup. either way, nope. Instead, I told him no thanks and that I didn't have the cash. I just let it go. Never occurred to me that he was a corrupt ATF officer. 😮

He wasn't scared to die facing that small army of men. That dog, however, stole his confidence with ease! 😂

I was attacked by a Rottweiler in 3rd grade. He grabbed my face perfectly from ear to ear and ripped me apart. I ended up with over 500 stitches and had to have 2 follow up surgeries. I have MASSIVE scars on my face to this day at 33yrs old. No matter how big and tough you think you are a strong dog will fuk you up. Again I'm 33 now and it happened in 3rd grade. To this day big dogs that are aggressive scare me. I don't allow an aggressive dog near my child. Makes me nervous

When your dog is in 'the red zone', very little that you do will have any effect. I learnt that when my 'Working GSD' bit my leg just above the knee. Now I was ''lucky'' in that she bit me in an area where I have almost complete nerve damage from a motorcycle accident so I hardly felt it, but she clamped on good until she looked in my eyes - then released immediately. A very fine dog that I will miss.

Ive actually witness a simlar situation with a seasoned Air Force Kennel Master and protection dog training company owner. A friend of mine. I wanted a malinois and he had a tip on a 2YO Mal Sheriff K9 unit that was being retired due to early onset arthritis. He accompanied me, my wife and two kids, to visit the dog at the kennel. K9 had so many certs: narcotics, tracking, protection, apprehension, etc. He was super friendly to me and my family. Took him outside to work on commands. Friend started giving him commands in german and dutch and he was super crisp. Unfortunately, he was very protective of his black kong. Friend gave him out command, dog turned and looked at him and immediately launched at his stomach. Sunk in a bite then went for his right wrist. Friend lifted him up off the ground by collar and choked him out, but walked away with deep bite wounds, broken wrist and torn tendon. While holding the dog up in the air, while being clamped on, he was so calm. My family and i were like 😮. He was walking the dog back into the vet office and said, "This isnt the dog for you." Yeah, no shit bro😂 Forever grateful he saved me or one of my family members from being ripped to shreds.

I had a Malinois that was about 65 pounds. I'm 230 pounds and when he was after someone. I could barely hold him! People don't understand how powerful those animals are!
